"Taylor, Matt, Pat, Russ and the entire team did a fantastic job with our sunroom project! They are true professionals and quality of work is excellent! Their timeliness from design phase to finish and final approval was as promised. The new sunrooms flows seamlessly with our existent home and has become integral part of our home. Truly enjoyed working with them and I am glad we chose them for this project. Rajen and Lona Mody"

"Appointment was scheduled for a quote. A gentleman (Tim) arrived at the precise scheduled time. Prior to assessing the exterior of our home Tim took time to sit down with us to obtain an understanding of precisely what we wanted. After verbalizing our desires and expectations Tim took measurements and provided an estimate. Prior to signing a contract Tim voluntarily provided his suggestions with his clearly evident expertise. There was not any pressure. After interviewing several other companies there was not any doubt Thermal Shield was the choice due to the integrity that was exhibited during our initial visit. When Thermal Shield was then contacted to return to review the initial quote Tim returned and a start date was scheduled. While waiting for the start date Tim called just to follow up and make sure the date was still convenient. The Thermal Shield team arrived punctually each morning and each member had a specialty and hit the ground running. The guys were very professional and took a great deal of pride in their work. The job was completed in the time targeted; approx. five days. While the job was being completed Tim called each day and stopped by to make sure we were satisfied. Due to our home being older, built in 1927 we have dealt with our share of contractors, some not so good. I am sometimes apprehensive with the reviews wondering if they are truly customers. Let me tell you we struck gold with the Thermal Shield team! The final price was precisely as quoted. The code enforcer was by today to perform his final inspection and said "He has been doing inspections for many years and has never performed an inspection which consisted of such quality work" that is a quote. We cannot say enough about how satisfied and lucky we are we chose Thermal Shield.

"I got 3 quotes for work that needed to be done on the exterior of my home and took the middle quote. The company that was doing the job was doing a horrible job. New Star Construction was doing some other work in my neighborhood and they came to look at the job. I ended up having them come and fix the bad work from the previous company and I couldn't be happier. They did a great job and are such great people to work with. They are still calling me to follow up to make sure everything is ok."

"We were cancelled once or twice and then he finally made it out. The serviceman was pretty friendly and good in his assessment. We were satisfied when he eventually showed up.He confirmed what we were already told before. He was thorough and knew what he was talking about. The price was good and he was professional."

"We live in a 1970s colonial where the kitchen and living/dining rooms were separated by a wall with a doorway.  Watching so many shows on HGTV, we wanted an open concept where we could entertain guests.  Joe, the owner came in and gave us a solid quote, not the cheapest or most expensive.  Based off of previous Angie's List recommendations we made a great decision to go with Seamless Transitions Construction (STC).
Once the project started, it was the little things that made for a very positive experience.  STC treated our house as if it were their own.  With a wall coming down between the old kitchen and dining room, and much of the area being taken down to the studs, there was a ton of dust.  STC built a temporary wall between the construction area and our family room with a door to keep the dust out.  At the end of each day, STC fully swept the construction area as we had to walk through it to get to the upstairs.  The range was kept operational for a good portion of the project until the point where the wiring was removed.  A temporary kitchen sink was installed so we could still do small amounts of dishes, etc.
Removing a load-bearing wall to open up the area proved easier than expected.  STC strictly followed code and passed inspection with no issues.  Of course there would be plumbing that would need moving.  Supply lines cannot go in an outside wall, so STC figured out a way to build the lines into an archway that improved the look of the space.
STC did just about all of the major work from rough construction, removing the load-bearing wall, drywall, installing hard wood flooring, installing cabinets, painting, plumbing, electrical, appliance installation, etc.  I should mention that installing trim work for an older house without a straight wall proved to be a challenge that STC was able to handle with ease.  About the only task that was fully outsourced was granite counter fabrication and installation.
As with any major construction/renovation project, we had changes that we wanted made on the fly.  We had set the kitchen up with only one sink, but did not foresee that the distance between the gas cooktop and the sink would be as far as it was.  We ended up moving the location of the under cabinet microwave and putting another sink in its place.  Obviously this left us with the wrong type of cabinets in both spots (both were already installed along with the counter top, but STC was able to make it look as though it was the original layout all along.
I would highly recommend STC for your kitchen renovation.  All of the employees were very professional and friendly and made the experience and enjoyable one!

"I had a bunch of little jobs to do around the home, and so I figured a handyman was the way to go. I should have ask him upfront about how much each little task would cost separately, and NOT go with his hourly rate, which he said would be the cheapest for me. Well, just to do a few little minor jobs around the home (which my husband could have done if he had time) it ultimately set me back $700.00. I was shocked! Especially because he talked with me most of the time.....And I paid for it! I wasn't realizing that talking would be figured into the fee. Shame on me. Finally, he didn't clean up at all like all other professionals have done when they finish working at my home. He left all the trash for me to pick up, and dispose of.....The only thing he did clean was his plaster supplies in my kitchen sink. Bryan knew I had a utility sink in the basement, and yet, the kitchen sink is where I discovered he cleaned his own tools at. So like I said in the beginning, if you decide to use Bryan, get a set fee up front. His work was decent, but not the best.....And $700.00 for minor repairs, should mean you are getting the BEST. Oh.....I was going to have Bryan do a roof job for me, but after his pricey fee for so little, I decided against him doing my roof. The roofer I hired knew his stuff! Yes, I paid a bit more than I would have with Bryan, but I got more! Also, the roofer used the materials/shingles I had left over from when I did the roof originally. Bryan said he would need to buy another box of shingles, and that wasn't the case at all. I know I made the right choice, as when Bryan was assessing the roof, he didn't have the same observations, or knowledge as the actual roofer had. Plus, I would have had to have cleaned up all the debris left behind when Bryan would have finished.....But, this roofer did it for me :) His name was Thomas Southwell.....I think his company is Thomas Wells Roofing on Angie's List? I will review him too!"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Willis, MI

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
