"A couple of months ago my father-in-law suffered a major heart attack, and unfortunately, he is now in hospice care. One of their great pleasures in life was/is their pool, especially for my mother-in-law, who even at 89, would swim her laps daily. And they both prided themselves for maintaining it themselves. Well now, with all she has had to deal with, needless to say, the pool was put on the back burner and has subsequently turned into a frog pond. I have owned and maintained my own pool for years, and I was sure I could get it back in shape for her so she could at least have that to help her through this difficult time. I live in Houston and went up to Raleigh last week hoping to get it cleaned up and stabilized for her. Although I was able to get a good start on it I was unable to finish the job, as I also discovered some problems with their sand filter that I had to address. I just could not get it all done before I had to get back. When I returned I set out to find someone there, who I felt I could trust, to finish the job. Mike was the first person to contact me after going on HomeAdvisor looking for someone. It didn't take long during that first phone call for me to feel I could trust him, and I didn't bother speaking with anyone else. My trust was not misplaced. Within four days Mike has gotten the pool cleaned up, and at a very reasonable price, especially considering all the work he did, and a number of times he's been out there. And my mother-in-law could not be more grateful. She really needed this, and Mike obviously saw how important this was to her, and came through for her with flying colors. "I went on Angie's List to see which pool service provider had the best ratings.  Though I traditionally have used the same contractor that installed my pool, I decided to go with the provider that had the highest ratings on Angie's List.  Happily, I was very happy with the service provided.  Last fall, Scott the owner sent out some employees to measure the precisely measure the pool.  In the early Spring, AquaHaven (AH) came back to make sure the measurements were correct.  AH sent me information via e-mail as to the different styles and types of liners that they carried.  I scheduled AH to come back in the Spring do install the liner.  AH set up a sump pump the day before installation to drain the pool.  It took approximately 10 hours to drain 18,000 gallons.  The pump was submerged and had a cut off switch so I really did not have to do anything.  Two highly skilled and professional workers showed up promptly at 8:00 a.m. the next day and finished draining the pool.  They then worked quickly to remove the old liner, prepare the metal sides and redo the flooring and walls of the pool.  Some of the pool floor and walls had deteriorated over the past 12 years so the workers quickly redid the entire damaged services leaving the pool floor and walls smooth.  The new vinyl liner was then put in place.  The workers were careful not to damage the pool floor which they had just repaired.  Once the liner was put in place, they put in vacuum blowers to remove any excess air and began filling the pool with water.  They then cleaned up completely hauling away the old liner, debris and any equipment they had brought.  After filling the pool floor with sufficient water to cover the first steps, AH came back the next day to remove the vacuum blowers.  The pool is now completely filled with water and is beautiful.
The pool liner cost approximately $1,500 and the labor, other material and tax ran around $2,700.  This was similar in cost to other contractors.  Scott, the owner, checked with me by phone the next day to see if everything was okay.  
I believe AH provided excellent service and an excellent product.  I would highly recommend them for this type of work in the future.

"2 electricians, Steve and Travis, arrived promptly, discussed the work I requested, offered suggestions, then provided a written estimate. They took accurate measurements of the new location for the interior ceiling fan before getting parts from the electrical supply store (A-frame ceiling with little clearance for blades). They returned in less than half an hour and installed everything exactly as I asked. The job turned out better than I hoped. Very satisfied. Steve recommended installing arc fault circuit breakers in the circuit panel box, a new code requirement for 2008. He suggested I research on the internet for more detailed info if I thought I might be interested. He also provided detailed info on a whole-house surge protector when I asked about it. Both Steve and Travis seemed very knowledgeable and thorough. They were both very friendly and professional. Also, I called this company on fairly short notice and was surprised they were able to send someone out so quickly. Seems they have a large enough staff to get the work done when you need it. I've put these guys at the top of my list for electrical work. Ask for Steve and Travis."

"Choice was fast, efficient, and kept me posted on the progress of the claim. Although the water leak issue was discovered on a Friday, they had a plumber there to investigate by Saturday morning. When it was determined that the 20+ year old heater needed to be replaced, the replacement ordered, on-site, and installed by Wednesday morning. I am glad that we opted for the Choice Ultimate plan as other than the initial $65 service fee, all but one $50 ancillary expense was covered."

"I highly recommend Brad We were in the process of selling our home and had to open repair and resurface our gunite pool that was 30 years old. He was able to drain the pool safely from all the debris, and repair any damage concrete, resurface and painted the pool. He also replaced the motor on the filter and re-piped all the pool lines. This was a huge job as the pool had not been opened in 4 years. He worked with our budget and was able to complete the entire job at a very reasonable cost ."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
