"I met with Gary in October to discuss adding a granite cap to my outdoor fire pit. The original fire pit stone and mortar had deteriorated. Gary was able to work with a stone quarry and have them create a round sold granite cap to go over the existing stone. The granite was delivered and placed on top of the pit today as he had to drive a truck across my lawn and we wanted to be sure the ground was frozen. He will return in the spring to finish the work by applying mortar under the granite and he will also do some stone wall repair at that time. While this project has been long and slow, Gary always quickly responded to my text and phone messages. The cost was more than I would like, but material costs are very high everywhere right now. I will definitely work with Gary again."

"Just the facts: Our house is two-stories and 1700 sq ft; not large. The quoted price for a new roof, repair/replace/clean the gutters, and rebuild/cap one chimney was @ $19,000. Once the work was started and shingles removed, Sean said the wood on the roof was in bad shape and needed to be replaced as well. This would add the price of plywood (they used MDF) plus two extra days of labor for 6 workers. For this he charged an additional 46,000, bringing the cost of the job to @65,000. Lesson learned: ask for a quote that includes the chance that the wood on your roof would need to be replaced with plywood. If we’d known BEFORE they tore off the shingles that it would triple the cost, we would have shopped around for a better price. The workers were excellent and the job was well-done; the project was simply way too costly."

"I recently hired Scott Richard to install a paver patio at my home as well as repair some crumbling mortar on my garage foundation. Scott and crew showed up on time every day and worked around some pretty crazy weather we experienced to get the job done on time. The crew was friendly and knowledgable and all of the work was superb. They also helped correct a problem with the previous patio being pitched towards my house which had caused some flooding in the past. We received 6 inches of rain during and just after completion and it was awesome to see the water stream off right where they said it would. We're now considering a walk way to complement the patio.

"Steve is very professional and completed the project in a very timely manner. I would highly recommend him and his company! They did repairs to my patio and two sets of stairs and my wife and I are very happy with the quality of the work. In this day and age, it is easy to promise more and deliver less. Steve did an excellent job and stayed on budget."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: repair or partially replace projects in Windham, NH

Stone veneer isn’t a weekend DIY. Even lightweight faux panels are heavy and must be anchored, flashed, and sealed to keep water out. Missteps can lead to cracked stone, leaks, or injuries. A licensed siding contractor arrives with scaffolding, masonry tools, and the know-how to set each piece safely and neatly, giving you a long-lasting, professional finish.

Stone veneer durability is robust when expert installation and proper maintenance are employed. When installed with precision, regularly cleaned, and sealed as required, stone veneer maintains its integrity for 25 to 75 years. Inadequate installation, however, leads to water intrusion and structural issues that compromise its longevity. Consistent upkeep and adherence to quality installation standards ensure decades of reliable performance.

Covering the entire exterior of a home with stone veneer is feasible but comes with a significant cost increase. Full coverage escalates both material and labor expenses due to the additional square footage required. Many homeowners reduce costs by applying stone veneer selectively—such as around entries, foundations, or architectural accents—while still achieving an upscale appearance and enhancing overall curb appeal.

Installing stone veneer over brick or stucco is entirely possible when the underlying surface is stable and properly prepared. The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of any loose material to support a secure application. Additionally, any areas of flaking stucco or deteriorated mortar must be patched and allowed to cure fully before a professional applies the new veneer, ensuring lasting durability.

Stone veneer siding offers a substantial cost advantage compared to full-thickness natural stone. It costs 25% of the price of natural stone because it is manufactured from concrete and lightweight aggregates. This method delivers the genuine appearance of stone while featuring a thinner profile that simplifies shipping, accelerates installation, and consistently reduces material expenses.

For a 250 square foot exterior area, stone siding installation costs range from $9,800 to $18,000, while installing stone veneer costs between $5,000 and $6,000. This clear cost breakdown demonstrates the significant savings achieved with stone veneer, which uses a lighter construction method that minimizes both material and labor expenses. Homeowners benefit from these lower costs while still attaining the attractive look of natural stone.
