"The painting and trim repair went smoothly. The owner contacted me the day before they wanted to start, when the weather was looking up, and we met the next morning. This was about a week after I gave the go ahead on the proposal. The painters were out for three days, with thee the first day, two the second, and one the third to finish up.

I received an email update from the owner the second day to update me on progress and made it home early on the second and third days to check in. All went smoothly from my perspective. There was a bit of trade off on prep work for the front entrance area (going to remove next year so skimp on prep) and trim repair which worked out well and kept the project at cost. I spoke with the painter on site who'd managed the team at some length about the work and future options on the last day when work was wrapped up.

Note on price: I didn't have a chance to get additional bids before I wanted to go ahead so I don't have a basis for comparison, but the price seemed fair for the work and friends with similar experience concurred."

They worked closely with us and the insurance company to carefully budget the work to be undertaken.
During the work itself they directed sub-contractors and sought our approval for those sub-contractors' performance.
GCM warranted the work per professional standards.
There was a problem with securing the work on time and also a problem in bringing back a contractor to complete part of the work. GCM made good on what the sub-contractor failed to complete.

"EVERYTHING WENT PERFECTLY.The measuring service is really cool. They take digital pictures using a special tape with measurements to fit the granite perfectly. "I bought the service through the 'Big Deal'. After paying, I received an email that the contractor would contact me within 2 days. This did not happen. After 4 days, I received an email from Angie's List asking if I had been contacted. When I responded in the negative, the service provided did eventually contact me within the week. The service was scheduled to be performed on a Friday, but it was not done. When I called the contractor, he had no idea that the service hadn't been done. He did eventually do it within the next week. I was not home when the service was performed. Upon inspection, the driveway had tree leaves sealcoated into it. Definitely a case of you get what you pay for.
