"Overall, Tom was personable, professional, and he got the job done fairly easily. I trusted his judgment in what kind of mounting hardware to use into the wall -- which was probably the one issue I had with how things went. Mr Handyman only provides their labor; the customer needs to provide ALL materials, which initially was challenging because the guy that I spoke to on the phone said that I had to wait until their guy arrived to even know what parts to get! He said the handyman would tell me what to get, and I'd need to go to the store -- while the guy is at my house -- and get the mounting hardware! (As a side note ... who would leave their house with someone they don't know inside it?). But then when I protested on the phone, he suggested I go to Home Depot and ask them, and get what they suggested (which made me wonder ... I'm hiring them for THEIR knowledge, right??). So my solution, which was the least painful in my mind, was to go to the hardware store and buy multiple different mounting options, and have them available for their guy to choose from (after which, I'll take the ones he didn't use back to the store). The only other point was the price, which, to explain ... Mr Handyman is a bit on the high side, because they charge for a full hour in addition to their service fee, even though Tom was only actually working at my house for about 30-40mins."

"Overall, the process went well. 8 weeks from order to install (first try). Everything was not done the first time due to an error in measurement - so new glass was ordered. Unfortunately, on round 2, the second picture window cracked - but 2 weeks later all done and looking good! As an aside, IWR was on time, the team hustled, and clean up after themselves. Second, 8 weeks was NOT an awful wait for a May order. Any construction firm with no backlog, might not have healthy orders."

"From the very start when I was gathering bids on this project Ted, from Put A Smile on Your Place Construction, was very professional and easy to work with.  His was the first of 3 bids I received back after making the calls requesting bids to be done.  During this process Ted also seemed to be the best at envisioning what I wanted done, running with my ideas and including suggestions of his own.  While the price of one bid came in much higher, Ted's came in with only a $200 difference from another bid I had received.  This made me feel confident that I had 2 very accurate bids and just needed to make a choice between those 2.  I felt comfortable in my decision to select Put A Smile on Your Place because of Ted's ability to envision how the project would unfold and explain this to me.  My decision was further reinforced when I called to let one of the other contractors know I had selected someone else.  That gentleman politely asked if he could know who I selected and when I told him Put A Smile on Your Place, he proceeded to praise Ted's work, saying that I would be very happy with my selection.  I thought that was pretty good for one contractor to give a nice review of another. <br /> Ted started the project when he said it would start and right away I noticed how organized he was in getting the various tradesmen in to do whatever specialty was needed.  The egress window, framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, and finishing all seemed to move seamlessly from one to the other.  The inspections that were needed as the project progressed fit right in as well and never slowed the project down.  Everything always passed with flying colors and the inspectors even seemed impressed in how the project was moving forward so smoothly.  Ted stayed on top of it the whole time and made sure that I was always kept up to speed on what was being done and when.  While I didn't get to meet every tradesman that worked on the project, the ones I did meet were all very polite and worked hard. <br /> All of this made, what can be a stressful time for a homeowner, seem much more effortless and actually fun.  I would definitely use Put A Smile on Your Place Construction for any future projects I need done at my home.  Job Well Done! <br />"

"We were very happy with the installation of our deck. Carl did a fantastic job and we were especially pleased with the quality of workmanship. It was apparent that Carl had a lot of experience installing decks as he gave helpful suggestions to our design."

"The work done was fantastic. Terry worked with us the whole time letting us know status, issues or new ideas he might have. He was always available to talk on the phone and discuss anything. I actually called him after the framing was done at like 10pm to tell him that I thought the bedroom closet wasn't going to work in its current location and that I thought it should be moved, which he very calmly told me that it was no problem and asked me to mark where I thought it would make more sense to have it, which I did. Next day, Kevin came in and redid the framing for the closet in the location I marked, they didn't even charge us anything extra for that. We also ended up asking for a bench in the bathroom shower which was not on the original plans that we agreed on, Terry incorporated it quickly with no complaints. Terry also handled working with the city inspector regarding the permits. Our basement design ened up having a lower ceiling in one section in the middle of it which was lower that 7 feet, this was because the basement ceiling was weird (HVAC ducts, PVC pipes and other portruding things past the bottom of the joists) and it would cause some parts to be higher in that section that others, so Terry asked us if it would make sense to bring it down to the lowest hieght section so it could be even and square, to which we agreed. However, the ceiling that low (about 6 feet 8 inches including drywall) is not up to code and the city inspector would not approve the framing however Terry worked relentlessly with the cheif inspector so that they would understand why it was like that and the issues it would cause if it wasn't done this way, he even got the cheif inspector to come out and take a look for himself so he could understand. Once he saw and understood everything, he signed off on the permits. This did delay our timing which was unfortunate but everything was properly done and approved which was the more important thing. Also the lower section ended up being a welcome addition to the layout of the room since the home theater secition is right under it and it looks like we had ennvisioned it that way from the beginning, sort of highlighting the section (we also paited it a differet color to accent it). Now we can't even envision it being any other way. Finally, Terry's and Kevin's help in the home theater section was invaluable. I purchased a bunch of things to add to it but they installed everything, we are talking running cables (speaker, subwoofer, ethernet, IR eye, Coax, HDMI), installing in-wall speakers (including a bit of special framing for my center channel speaker), setting up a specific section in the ceiling where we could hang the HD projector (making sure there was enough distance to project a big enough image) and installing the projector mount, helping me hang a 100 inch home theater screen, putting some boards up in the control room to neatly connect all the speakers, etc. Overall we had a fantastic experience with Terry, Kevin and the rest of the crew/skilled trades (which are all really good at what they do). The only issue, which is minor AND was affected by the permit issue, was the time it took to complete, however in the end the quality was worth the wait. We would definitely hire You Got a Guy again in a second. I am very picky about who I hire to work on my home and I can say that You Got a Guy Contruction is at the top of my list for any other home improvement work I might need. I already want to get them to work on my master bathroom and throw some ideas at them, unfortunately I need to save up some money before doing that otherwise they might be in there right now working on it. Thanks to Terry, Kevin and the whole You Got a Guy Contruction crew, we love our basement and use it every single day!!!!"
