"I have been looking for someone to come in and service my standby generator for quite some time. I finally decide to check with Angi's for recommendations. Premier Energy Solutions responded to my query within minutes of my posting. After discussing my system, they informed me that they had a technician who was currently in my area and could come in the same afternoon. Nate showed up early in the afternoon and was able to get my generator functioning within a few hours. He took the time to keep me informed during the process and we discussed my options for going forward with a maintenance schedule."

"I took advantage of a promotion ARS was offering in mid April to come to my condo for a routine tune up of my furnace and AC. From the second the plumber walked through my door, he was trying to sell me something. First, he said the quality of my air was awful, and I needed an air scrubber. Then he recommended I purchase their annual tune-up service/subscription where I get priority service and discounts on the parts he was trying to sell me. We then went out to my Air Conditioning unit. He said he was not allowed to touch it because it was out of code and against environmental standards. He recommended I purchase a new unit. When I asked how much, he said he'd need to get a sales professional out to give me a quote. That was after he had tried to sell me three different things... This week, with the temperatures rising, I turned on my air conditioning. Except there was a problem: It would not turn on. After trying to troubleshoot by changing the batteries in my thermostat and switching off and on the fuses, I finally called an HVAC professional recommended by a friend. The plumber walked in, looked at my furnace, laughed, and turned on the switch. He said most likely it was left off so I would have to call back and be charged for another ARS service call. He also tested my air quality and said it was fine. Lastly, even though my AC unit might be out of code. I am still grandfathered in on maintenance and other services that are needed. Long story short, as a new home buyer (less than 1 year) I will never utilize ARS services again and would not recommend it to any friends or family members. All they are trying to do is sell you their products and services. Clearly, they do not care about delivering a great customer experience or consider doing what is best for the customers. Or I guess former customers...."

"Unresponsive and Unprofessional. Workers didn't show when they said they would. They did not finish the job, but told me they did. Left trash everywhere. They also installed an outdoors unit on my neighbor's property and want me to pay $7,500 to move it. This would have just been a simple fix, but they have been making it extremely difficult leaving me no choice but to file a complaint against their license and their bond."

"We noticed a slight leak around the base of the main-bath toilet, so we called a few plumbers. Aqua was the only one that had a live person answer the phone. Megan from Aqua took down the information on our plumbing issue and indicated a plumber could come out first thing the next morning. Tyler, the plumber from Aqua, called us first thing that morning to say he was on his way. He arrived shortly after with his assistant, and he replaced the toilet wax wing with two rings. We also asked him to check the slow-draining sink in the main bath, which he snaked. He then made sure both the toilet and sink drain were working well. Megan from the office left a voicemail the other morning to check on things. The job went well from Megan's scheduling and "after-care" call to Tyler's work."

"PLEASE SEE LESSONS LEARNED IN CAPS THROUGHOUT. In fairness, they had just lost an employee and their office was harried, but mine was definitely not a good experience. I paid $375 for the title V inspection. 2 guys came, poked the ground for 5 minutes, didn't find a riser and cap, & left saying they could not do the inspection and would have to excavate the site. LESSON ONE: require them to pull the prior Title V before coming out, which would have given them the depth of the system ahead of time. Capewide would not give me a quote to excavate, only said the excavation equipment cost $170/hr to rent. They then excavated, said the system failed because the distribution box had to be upgraded to a H20, filled in the hole and left. Next Capewide sent me a bill for an additional $2285 for the first excavation (with no breakout) and a quote of an additional $2600 to upgrade the DBox. They refused to credit me for the $375 they charged me for the 10 minutes their first inspectors poked around. LESSON TWO: check the last Title V before you start. If you have a walk-out basement, the system is going to be deep. If the previous owner didn't install risers, you are going to have to excavate. Be sure to only hire a Septic inspection co. that has their own excavation equipment. I said I wanted to check the 6 year old Title V inspection to see why the previous inspector passed it before I paid the additional $2600. This was not a criticism of Capewide rather the 2012 inspector. They were not enthusiastic about my going to the County. LESSON THREE: The town inspector said the requirement to upgrade to an H20 was only for new builds, mine was grandfathered and did not need to be replaced. I had Capewide on the phone to ask them some questions and the town inspector pulled my cell out of my hand saying they wanted to explain to Capewide directly. Capewide told the county inspector they had 'learned something', They next called back and said the sides of the box were collapsed. After I left the County office, the Capewide inspector called me and tore me 'a new one' for putting him in the embarassing position of having to speak to the inspector. I tried to explain that the inspector had grabbed the phone but he wouldn't have it. I decided to get another quote before proceeding, especially since they would not break out the $2600 additional expense and called an excavation co. that did septic inspections (and owned the excavation Equipment). The 2nd company quote me $1650 or 37% less. They did the work. I monitored and photographed it. There was slight degradation in one of the walls of the Dbox but it was not collapsed. If I had gone to them in the first place my cost would have been $3300 vs. $5260 from Capewide. I have kept my recordings of the calls with Capewide. Again, not a good experience."

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Woods Hole, MA

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
