"Work was started on a sizeable project within a reasonable time frame, but came to and end without my being informed or asked to review it. Only after I received an invoice did I understand that work was completed, which was not to my satisfaction. I called and requested someone to come out to discuss the matter. Manager showed and we discussed the quality of the work and the state they left the project, basically looked shoddy. Manager agreed and within a few days a crew returned and completed the job to my satisfaction. An adjustment was made to the invoice and I would recommend them as I would expect this to not occur again. My rating combines both the initial work and completed work."

Did everything they advertised, however very little grass seed seemed to take root.  Not sure is issue was my soil, their seed or some other issue(s), but there were no recommendations or any follow up.  They did what they advertised, were prompt and professional - I'm just disappointed with the results.

"Took a while to get scheduled, work turned out well.  Owner didn't really follow up any or check on crew at all.  Would have added some work for them if they did.  Demo crew was really unprofessional.  Made a mess of the house."

"It was Christmas day and water began pouring through a light fixture on the first floor. I turned off the water immediately. I had a full house of guests and no water. The next day, I was contacted by several Angie's list vendors. I chose Russell's Heating & Air Conditioning because they could arrive sooner than anyone else and waived the trip fee. Other vendors were going to charge $90 or higher just to come to the house. Jason arrived at the house and immediately started working to find the problem. He had to cut into the ceiling first and then a wall on the second floor, but found the leak. The builder had put a screw through a pipe in the bathroom while putting up the sheet rock. He repaired the pipe and cleaned up his mess. I turned the water back on and we were good to go. The cost was $72.95 to find the leak and $143.04 to repair it for a total of $215.99. To me Jason saved Christmas!"

"My experience with U&F was premiere from first contact to closing out the project. It was evident from the start that I was in good hands with my project. My needs included clearing a large rock and stepping block patio and replacing the same foot print with a concrete patio much more suited for entertaining and playing basketball. The 3.5 day project went exactly as planned and did not require my presence allowing me to be at work through it all. I was provided pictures throughout each day of progress and either texted or called to ensure I was happy having reviewed their work each evening when returning home. The patio exceeded my expectations and has upgraded my entire backyard in both appearance and practical use. I would highly recommend this trustworthy customer oriented company for my concrete needs. "Tim Gillen owns the company and is physically present for almost all the work that goes on during the project. This ensures that the quality stays high on the work performed.  He directly oversees the job and the final walk through was easy as there were only a few items to finish off. These were completed in a few hours with no issues.
His crew cleaned up after every work day, including picking up all drop cloths, vacuuming and wiping down where any construction dust had settled. 
The employees we met were all personable, friendly and competent.  All requests were completed with a good attitude and willingness to accommodate our needs.  Vendors employed by The Gillen Co to provide service such as electric and plaster repair were likewise helpful and friendly. 
Change orders or additional work was negotiated in a friendly and easy manner.  Upgrades were handled the same way.
The Gillen Co provides a vendor list for common suppliers such as tile, granite, lighting etc and this is a good place to start if you are unfamiliar with local vendors. After doing our own research we ended up using a mix of recommended suppliers and our own sources for items purchased during this project.
The project turned out very well and we are pleased with the end result.
