"Everyone at Bedwell Builders is great to work with. They show up when they say they will, they do a thorough job, and are very communicative. As a realtor, they’ve done several jobs for me, sometimes last minute. They’re dependable, reasonably priced and provide great service. Highly recommend Bedwell Builders!"

"CandK was focused and diligent. They are based in Ames where I live. They were punctual and available when I had questions. I was offered a free Carrier Wi-Fi thermostat. I accepted. Installation issues with the powered "C" wire made me switch to a different thermostat. They handled all paperwork needed for rebates, and for a tax credit for the 2016 return. They have decades of experience. They know installation, and I chose them because I trust they will be in business for the life of my Carrier furnace and air-conditioner. The Dynamic air filter is the best filter I have ever seen in a residence. I just spoke with them today about also installing a new Rheem gas water tank to replace my existing tank."

"The plumber arrived on time and went immediately to work.  He installed a new shower head in a matter of minutes and then went to work on replacing the shutoff valve to one of our toilets and fixing a leaky faucet.  When the work was finished he explained it took him a little longer than anticipated due to the original installation.  He did a great job and it took him about an hour to complete all three items on our list.   <br /> I read in an earlier review that this company was not up front with some of their cost estimates.  In my experience this could not be farther from the truth.  They explained the cost estimates from the first time I talked to them on the phone until the final bill was completed. <br /> Premier Plumbing did a very nice job for me and I will not hesitate to call them again when I need plumbing work. <br />"

"Most thorough and professional service we've ever had! This was a more complex job because we had to replace two furnaces and ductwork with one furnace and a/c unit to service the entire home and they dedicated a crew to come work in our home for five days to complete the work. When Greg, one of the company's owners came to give us the estimate, he explained everything in great detail so we would be sure to understand exactly what they would be doing. They worked quickly to have the main part of the house up and running and quickly as possible to keep us comfortable and had the whole house a/c up and running a day early. The crew kept us up to date and in the loop the entire time so we would know. One of the guys even came up and gave us a heads-up to let us know they were going to have to cut the power for about five minutes so we could shut our computers and electronics down to avoid any problems! When they were done, our basement was cleaner than it had ever been, and Greg even followed up via email by helping us fill out the paperwork in order to get the rebates for our new equipment! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Ames, IA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
