"Needed the top several rows of brick on my fireplace replaced and a vent cap added.  Master Services was recommended to me by a roofing contractor and I contacted them through Angie's List.  Got a response indicating that my town was not too far from them and they would be happy to help.  They supplied a phone number for me to call the office to make an appointment.  I called the office and but after being put on hold the office person came back on the line and told me I am out of their service area.  I told her that I received an Angie's list response indicating they could help and she responded that they would have to correct that. <br /> I wanted to rate them a C but Angie's Lst wouldn't let me. <br />"

"Good. They ran a camera up the chimney and identified some cracks that need to be addressed at some point. Our major concern was seeing if squirrels had taken up residence in the chimney and taking steps to evicting them if they had. Fortunately there was no evidence of a nest, so we just had them order and install a chimney cap. <br /> This was the first time we ever used a chimney company (I'm not even sure why we have fireplaces in Houston!) but will definely use them again in the future as the need arises. <br /> <br />"

"Serviceman was right on time. Before cleaning the inside of my fireplace, as well as the gas logs, he laid a blanket down so no dust could get on my floor or furnishings. He noticed that the logs were set a little too close to the front, then adjusted the log rack so the gas could flow better through the logs. He also noted that the gas pipe was at the correct length to the logs. Next, he went outside and did an inspection of the chimney by getting on the roof. Except for a slight crack in the caulking around the cap there were no problems. The caulking was not something that required repair at this time. This serviceman was very professional in doing his job, in cleaning up after his inspection, and in the information he gave. I will call this company again."

"We discovered that our chimney cap had blown off in hurricane Ike when we experienced significant water coming into the house from the chimney during a heavy rainstorm. We fixed this by having a new chimney cap installed (a high quality stainless steel) and the crown sealed as an additional precaution. We then had the chimney waterproofed with a product called "Chimney Saver" for additional protection. This company was very responsive to our needs. Work was done over several days and we were advised of status in a timely way. The cost was just as quoted."
