"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"Our project was to remodel our small basement bathroom. It had a tiny 19 x 17 sink and vanity and a 3 foot shower stall. The existing stall was installed about 8 inches above the floor level so the inside height was about 80 inches at most. Our goal was to update to a larger vanity and larger shower. We sent out requests to several contractors but none were willing or able to take the project on. One of them who had very high Angie's List ratings could not accommodate our time frame but did refer us to Jamin at Laurel Craftsmen. One of the big issues with the project was that we live in Atlanta and had a small timeframe to work with when we would be in Pittsburgh. Jamin recommended that we open the basement floor and run the shower drain underneath giving us additional height in the shower at the same time warning that until demolition of the existing structure was complete there could be hidden issues. Anyone who watches HGTV knows this is always the case and ours was no exception. Jamin felt he could complete the project in 2 weeks but also stated that he is a perfectionist and it would not be complete until he was satisfied. After the project started we threw a curve when we wanted to move one of the existing walls to further enlarge the room. Did I mention that in doing so he had to also accommodate other existing drain pipes. Well he handled it with ease. After issues with non-level floors, an unknown floor drain, hidden damage from prior leaks, prior non-code plumbing, etc the project was complete only one day later than expected. We now have a roomy bathroom with a 4 foot shower with plenty of headroom, a full 30 inch vanity, a new efficient toilet, new flooring, trimwork, walls and storage. We could not be happier with the work Jamin did for us. We would highly recommend him (A++) for any projects you might have. Thank you, Jamin."

Customers say: True professional

"We hired Carmen to finish our basement in our house and we gave him just skeleton ideas of what we wanted. I'm glad we let him run with it because we couldn't be happier. Carmen is incredibly professional, talented and creative. I think what's not often talked about with contractors is how they treat their clients and Carmen is the most personable guy we've ever worked with. He was always cognizant of us working from home and was always accessible for questions both before, during and now after the job. We look forward to him doing our master bath next. We wouldn't hire anyone else to do kitchen, bath or basement work. Can't say much other than the completed job is above and beyond what we expected!"

"I needed my basement Waterproofed. When it rained, my basement literally had rivers flowing through it, until This company saved it. Impriano Home Repair And Renovation installed an interior French drain and sump pump system to waterproof my basement and it's been dry ever since! In that basement, Joe and crew also replaced some drywall that had mold on it, renovated/retired/painted a moldy bathroom. They also painted my upstairs house, snaked my exterior downspouts, and replaced part of my leaky roof. They guys were perfect. And Joe Impriano is everything you could ask for in a contractor. He answers his phone every time, addresses any and every concern you may have, and doesn't leave until you're satisfied with the outcome. I'd re-hire this team in a minute. I love the finished product and the price was competitive."

"I have a 1957 built ranch-style home that needed some major upgrades over the past 3 years.  Those projects were all done by Dion at Three Rivers Remodeling.  I met Dion back in 08/2011 through my neighbor (his in-laws) and the first project was my upstairs bathroom.  I was impressed with Dion's professionalism, attention to detail/cleanliness, and punctuality.  I was really impressed when Dion asked if it would OK for him to work on the bathroom on Labor Day.  Since then, in 2011 Dion installed glass block windows in my garage and replaced the doors/base boards in the hallway.  In 2012, Dion replaced a paneled wall in the living room with drywall, painted the living room, refinished the hardwood floors, and built stairs leading from the basement to the living area.  In 02/2014, I hired Dion for a complete kitchen remodel.  Finally, in 11/2014, Dion remodeled my downstairs bathroom.  On that job, after he gutted the room we found several problems that we were not expecting.  Dion worked most days until 9:00 (after asking me if that would be OK) in order to get the job done by the promised completion date while not sacrificing the quality of the finished project.  When I show people the finished project, they are always very impressed by Dion's work.
Dion does all the work himself and he is a bit of a perfectionist.  I know that he prefers to do the job right as opposed to doing the job cheaply.  I cannot say the same thing about the prior owners of my house.  When we discovered the issues with the downstairs basement, Dion explained my options.  What we could/could not get away with.  What is the right way/workaround to correct the problem.  Inevitably, with my experience with Dion, I trust his judgement and always authorize him to do it the right way.
When it comes to pricing, I do my research and go into the project with a range on what I think it will cost.  Dion always comes in within that range.  Never overpriced and never a low-ball estimate.  He discusses what needs to be done with me in layman's terms and his contract clearly discloses all the work to be done for the price.  Any unanticipated costs (like on the downstairs bathroom) are clearly discussed, priced, documented, and presented to me for approval before Dion proceeds with any work.
Oh, and Dion likes my dogs (and they love him) even letting them out for bathroom breaks while he's on the job.  May seem trivial, but, just another example of the extra steps Dion takes to make the whole process a positive experience.

"I talked to Rich and Joe the first day they came out after my shingles where blown off my roof I really wanted a metal roof but I didn't think I had the money for it as the other estimate from other roofing contractors was pretty high in the end RMS installed me a metal roof cheaper than the others wanted for shingles so of course I hired them and they did a great job and all the guys where very nice and easy to talk to did wonderful work will be hiring them for more work"

Small jobs welcome

"My experience with Champion Kitchens was wonderful. The initial in-home estimate went well, Steve was on time and very thorough. Following that I met with John in the office to go over materials and prospective layout. I found the computer model very helpful in visualizing what the final outcome would be and I appreciated John's knowledgeable input. Throughout the process they were respectful of what I wanted for my kitchen. When it came time for the work to be completed I was impressed at the efficiency of their crews. They kept a regular schedule and I felt that the project was in good hands the whole time. Their plumber discovered a cracked return pipe when they got into the wall and floor, which added a little bit to the price, but they communicated this information to me as soon as it was discovered, and to be honest I had been bracing for such a thing given the age of my house. The plumber had a plaster guy come out on a Saturday to patch up the large hole that resulted as he informed me it was a little beyond his skill set. I appreciated his honesty and the final result looks great. I had my own floor contractor come in as I wanted a cork floor, which was something their go-to flooring company did not do. Again they were very respectful of my choice and took care to protect my new floor as they completed the remainder of their work. It took a little while to get the counters in as they had to be created to fit my somewhat wavy existing walls, but it was worth the wait. They're just laminate but they look great. I would not hesitate to recommend this company."

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Greensburg, PA

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
