Salt for softening and chlorine for sulfur removal. The Complete new system is now based on usage not time. No chlorine now, new one uses air to recharge. Plus they put in a great four filter reverse osmosis filter in kitchen for drinking and cooking. We were nervous about drinking well water from a shallow well adjacent to a golf course what will all the poisonous stuff they use on the grass. They were very professional and courteous. Had several bids. They were the only ones that brought testing equipment with them so they could determine what was in the water. That made me feel great about them and that we got what we needed ant not just something that they were selling. Not the cheapest but water is essential to life, ours. Now I am comfortable we have what we needed."
