"Victor was wonderful. He was on time, professional, and explained everything he was doing. He was thorough and figured out that the problem was electrical instead of with my HVAC system. Very knowledgeable. I will be using this company in the future for any HVAC needs. Thanks!"

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

"The service turned out well. The problem happened on a Friday. He was the only one I could get out the next day. He was able to get their early and repaired the A/C quickly. They explained the issue very well which I appreciated because sometimes service providers do not explain things well. I would use them again in the future."

"I submitted a request on Angies List for a quote on my AC unit. I was unsure if a repair or replace was needed. I almost immediately had a call back and a schedule for someone to come take a look. Mike called me before arriving and was very prompt. He was very polite and professional and took time to fully inspect the unit. It turns out a new unit was needed and he went through my options and quoted prices. The pricing is very competitive. A new unit was scheduled for installation the next day. The AC installation was done very professionally. During the install a crack was found in the heat exchanger of the furnace. Again exceptional service was provided from quote to install. Big shot out to Mike Brown, Brock, Haidar, Brian and Dakota. There was another gentlemen with Brock and I can’t remember his name. So sorry!! If you need any work done on HVAC, give Five Star heating and cooling a shot. awesome job guys!"

"We just recently removed a wood-burning stove and its associated chimney from our living room which left about a 14 inch diameter hole in the ceiling. We already had a hole in the kitchen ceiling from moving a light fixture. We thought it was time to have both fixed, so we looked up drywall repair in Angie's List and decided on Tom Webb. There were so many good candidates, but Tom's business address was not far from our home, so we thought it made sense to use his services. I called on Thursday, and he said he thought he could come over on Saturday (surprise) depending on how another project went. Well, he called about noon on Saturday and said he would be over about 2 o'clock if that was OK. He arrived on time; we had the rooms already prepped with tarps, and he and his helper had both holes patched and nearly perfectly smooth in less than an hour. He said I could save $25 if I wanted to sand them myself, as they required practically no sanding at all, but I declined becaue I know I would sand too much and too hard and ruin a perfect job.  So Tom came back the next morning (Sunday) and sanded both areas in less than 10 minutes. We were amazed at how smooth and perfect the repairs looked. Again we had everything tarped and ready, and he was both surprised and pleased. After he finished sanding, Tom asked what we wanted him to clean up, and we said that we would do it because there was minimal mess; cleanup took about 15 minutes. Tom also gave me several good tips on how to paint over the repairs and hide the repair as much as possible. Great experience."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Amanda, OH

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
