"Sila was able to install a new water heater the afternoon we moved into our house. They were prompt, professional, and informative. Angie's List had a great deal (perhaps not meant for our location). $749 for a 50-Gallon Gas Water Heater Installation."

"Edmund and Wes where extremely professional and knowledgeable. Showed up right on time. They were able to determine that there was not a leak. Pertaining to the water pressure, Edmund identified the problem immediately as an old compensator that was part of the original main water line. He replaced it and we went from 50 PSI to 70 PSI through the entire house. The pressure on the second deck is strong just like the pressure in the basement. They are now my go to plumbing team in Leesburg."

"Overall, the job went well. They were able to fix the problem and now our tub works very well again. We always recommend JH Peterson Plumbing when neighbors or friends ask us for referrals. Fortunately, we don't need plumbing help often but these are the people we call when something goes wrong.

They make a serious effort to hire quality professional plumbers. If someone doesn't work out, they are no longer on the staff. If you work with JH Peterson, you know you will get an experienced good plumber and they stand behind their services."

"Mr. Pressley was very responsive. He came out when promised and immediately got to work. He worked quickly and did a good job explaining to me what needed to be done. He replaced the pipes and tested the system to ensure no more leaking. I called him back because subsequently, we noticed water leaking under the sink. Mr. Pressley came back out and fixed this leak without charge. He also noticed a problem that another plumber had created and promised to fix it when he came back out to work on the repairs to the house, which was extensively damaged. ALSO, HE GAVE ME A GOOD DISCOUNT AS A MEMBER OF ANGIE'S LIST."

"Drains always clog and back up on weekends. Tried calling several plumbers on a Sunday morning who advertised emergency service, including a few on Angie's List. If I could get hold of them, they either could not or would not come, offered weekday service, or doubled the rates. JF Plumbing agreed to come within a few hours and charged normal rates. They arrived promptly, completed the task within the time frame estimated, and even gave some helpful hints on things to do to prevent future backups."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Anacostia, DC

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
