"They did a fantastic job! They always kept me informed on what they were doing and called a day ahead of time to tell us what was planned for next phase. Every part of this project was done very professionally with qualified workers, clean up was great, I would hire them again. Everyone who has seen this new patio just loves how it turned out. They were able to do all the work as stated and I did not have to hire different companies for each phase."

"California Pools was phenomenal to work with! From our designer Brian Magrath who listened to us and helped us stay within our budget, to Myra Olson and Vina Ortega who coordinated the project and kept us informed, to Matt White who was our construction manager and would stop in multiple times to check on the progress and do quality control. Our project included the pool, turf, extending the patio to the full length of the house and granite stone. Communication is KEY for us; they always promptly returned calls/texts and answered any and all questions that we had with patience. From breaking ground to our pool orientation was less than 3 months! I will recommend them to anyone who is thinking of putting a pool in, and if needed, will definitely use them again!!!"

"Referred by neighbor after seeing their gazebo. I wanted this done before the holidays when family was coming in town; these guys got in done sooner than expected. I had a general idea of what I wanted the fireplace to look like, but there proposed design was better than anything I could have dreamt of! I was impressed by the quality of the work, fair pricing, and attention to detail. Will be using them for our next project!"

"We worked with Rob and Devin to redo our front yard. Rob created a great design, Devin made sure that work was progressing well, the workers did a great job of building our new yard. This was a big project. Retaining walls had to be removed, new walls built, and a lot of dirt hauled away. There were no surprises along the way. Any questions I had were answered quickly. Rob even had a great design tweek in the middle of the project that made a lot of sense and made the yard look even better. Before and after pics attached. Will look even better once the new retaining walls are painted. We are very happy with the work and the way our new front yard looks."

"Like many contractors these days, it was great up until the home stretch. You may want to sit because this is going to get lengthy ... The demo and layout went well. Early into the layout I questioned them about sprinkler placement and was assured there would be plenty of coverage with no standing water, nor dry spots. I should have listened to my gut, but I placed my trust in the company that had been doing this for 20 years. Many of the sprinklers were installed crooked (they need to be straight vertically to provide the proper coverage). I brought this up and was assured they would be straightened before the sod was laid. Some were. When I asked about it again, I was told they would work themselves into place. Again, I deferred to his experience versus my nagging gut. The paver patio was laid out well, as were the paver borders. With the drip system in place, they installed the landscape fabric, decorative plants, and "river rock". That's in quotes because there is definitely some river rock in the mix, but it was equally tainted with granite and rock hard mud. Basically the cheapest excuse for river rock there could be. We have river rock installed elsewhere, so it doesn't take much to look at one, then the other to notice strange things are afoot. Sod was installed with winter grass already seeded in and almost all of it lived (Hallelujah!) But I soon noticed dead, dry grass in a couple areas. It took two weeks of back and fourth to convince them to install another sprinkler to cover the dry areas. On top of that, the installer lied about telling my wife "It doesn't need another head, it just needs to be adjusted." His adjustment included watering the entire paver patio just to barely reach the dry spot (which was completely against their initial advice of "Never waste water on concrete". Rather than taking one more day to check on fit and finish of the install, they bugged out ASAP leaving landscape fabric exposed above the "river rock" in many places, spilled concrete on the new kool deck, and about thirty feet of concrete foot prints on the paver driveway. Not to mention the crooked sprinklers. Now that the heat is on, the Bermuda sod is coming through nicely except for, you guessed it, DEAD, DRY SPOTS. Now, to ease your fears, there are parts of the lawn that are sprouting mushrooms because it's too wet, so their advice of "Leave the sprinklers on longer" isn't going to fly. I'm anxious to see what excuses they come up with to get out of installing a couple more heads to make it right. See, that was what I hammered into the salesman and supervisor ... "You weren't the cheapest bid, but based on your experience and reviews I expect you DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME." I must have said that 50 times. Just take a bit of extra time to make sure you've got it down and everyone can walk away happy. Instead, they would rather come out an additional four or five times and dig holes in the new grass. I'm aware we have high standards. Maybe a bit unrealistic. But if that's the case, don't promise to perform to those expectations then get upset when customers hold you to it. Oh, and get this ... We replaced a piece of sod a couple of weeks ago that had never taken root and found they had lain it on the spot where they had been cleaning their concrete buckets and tools. Plus they left the old sprinkler head underneath it as well. I'm going to have to research this new type of fertilizer called mortar and plastic."

"Working with Mike and his team was awesome. I did an owner build and Above and Beyond took the wheel after shotcrete and I didn’t worry about another thing. Professional, courteous, always on time, helpful suggestions and competitively priced. I could not have asked for more. I have already recomended them to several people doing owner builds. Thanks Mike!"

"First a plug on the end of my kitchen island went out. Then my garbage disposal started to work only when it wanted to and, finally my dishwasher stopped working. I discovered that when rummaging around under sink, sometimes things would work. I looked on Angies and this company I had used before was running a deal. They came very quickly and solved the problem. I had a short in the plug under the sink that all these things depended on. They rewired and grounded the plug and things are working perfectly. These guys are great!"

FAQs for outdoor kitchen building service projects in Arizona City, AZ

Building your own pizza oven can be a cost-effective option if you already possess the necessary firebricks or materials and have the skills to complete the project. When you have the required supplies on hand, you save on material costs and labor fees. However, if you need to source every component, a pre-made kit may not deliver the same savings.

Fire bricks are engineered to withstand the high temperatures generated inside a pizza oven, protecting the structure from cracking or spalling. Standard bricks can fail under intense heat, potentially damaging the oven and creating safety risks. By using true fire-rated bricks, homeowners maintain consistent cooking temperatures, preserve the oven’s structural integrity, and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs. The modest increase in material cost is offset by longer service life and safer operation.

An optimal pizza oven installation positions the opening exactly between 36 and 48 inches above the ground to guarantee clear visibility and safe, comfortable access. This height optimizes heat distribution and ergonomic use. In addition, dome height can vary: shorter domes produce the signature soft, charred crust of Neapolitan pies, whereas taller domes are ideal for generating the robust baking environment required for New York–style pizzas.
