"We researched and got competitive quotes from several companies. The price and quality of Window Depot won us over- plus we heard good things about their installers. Windows took a good 6 weeks to be made. When Art and his crew came by to install this was a really rainy period. They worked tirelessly over the weekend because of weather forecast and got the job done with great quality. Thanks for the great job!"

"We were worried about getting the windows replaced due to all the horror stories on reviews and we talked to a number of window installers. Skyline Windows was excellent from beginning to end. The price was 1/3 of the cost of Anderson and they did what they said they would do. The windows look great due to their attention to detail. They installed 1/4 trim on the inside (which they didn't have to) and it looks great. The installers were professional, left zero trash and clean windows. Our house is 10 degrees cooler and we couldn't be happier."

"We had an entire window shattered from a kicked up rock while driving on a Saturday.  Our insurance company's preferred provider was not able to fix it (at their location) until 5 days later, and we had to pay out of pocket since we had not met our deductible, so we found Ace Glass through Angie's List.  They were able to come to our house the next day and replace the window for less than our insurance's negotiated amount.  The office staff was courteous and knowledgeable, and asked all the right questions to make sure we got the proper glass for the van.  The glass installer, Troy, was on time, efficient, and the completed work looks and works great.  We are very happy with our experience. <br />"

"I have used We Do Windows for over four years to clean both the exterior and interior of our windows, and I've always been happy with the results. This visit was no exception, with a thorough and reasonably priced cleaning. <br /> The only challenge this time around was scheduling. It appeared to be a busy time of the year, so it took over three weeks of phone calls to find a date that worked. In general, it seemed to be difficult to schedule anything more than two days or so in advance. Despite the scheduling back-and-forth, I would definitely use We Do Windows again due to the quality of work and their pricing. <br />"

"I was very impressed with Glen Allen Glass for a number of reasons.  I called about ten glass providers to secure rough estimates for two glass panels and a glass door for our shower.  I was very surprised at the price variation--estimates ranged from about $2,000 to over $3,500 for glass that encompassed the same dimensions.  This was truly an apples-to-apples comparison.  Glen Allen was one of the two lowest prices but was at the high end of professionalism and specificity.  They answered all my questions, were very knowledgeable about installation details, and worked with me on timing.  <br /> Jason took very careful measurements prior to ordering and answered all my questions patiently (I ask a lot of questions).  When the glass arrived installation went very smoothly and we are beyond happy with the results.   Jason went out of his way to answer some questions about window installation.  The entire process with Glen Allen Glass could not have gone better and I would happily use them again or recommend them. <br />"

"It took a little longer than I expected, but it was worth the wait. The installers were very professional and cleaned up after the installation, hauling the old windows and doors away. Excellent service and great prices. We had estimates from two other companies before we settled on Window Universe. We would absolutely use them again and refer any and all of our friends to them."

"We found Lonestar on Angie's List and we were not disappointed.  Everything went exceptionally well. We had a lot of weather related delays (very rainy spring/summer this year) which was out of everyone's control, so we got off to a late start.   Steve's team was amazing and Greg Paul was exceptional at keeping us in the loop the entire time.  The professionalism of this company is one not often found these days.  At the end of each day, they totally cleaned up everything, including sweeping the driveway behind the house. (I joked it was cleaner while they were here than it normally is!) You couldn't find a stray nail, piece of trash, or any equipment anywhere!  After the windows were installed, they were completely cleaned off and the area around each window vacuumed.  I came home from work to find all the windows installed with no clean up necessary.  (I had heard horror stories about this process from friends that used other companies.) One of the windows (cherry wood laminate) had a small scratch on it. Steve said he would not install it and ordered a new one.  My husband said he had to look hard to find the scratch and was pleased that Steve not only found it, but was proactive in getting it replaced.  We had to wait a while on that window and the front door and even then, no money changed hands. Greg meant it when he said we did not pay until we were totally satisfied.  The quality of work is excellent. We created a punch list for our "walk around". We had three minor items on our list.  Greg had several pages on his!  (Including a few handprints on the siding that he wanted them to come back and clean up!) We were very impressed with Greg's work ethic.  As he said, it's their name on the sign and he wants it to be right.  We had three separate estimates done for this job.  One was much cheaper, but when I spoke to several people on their reference list I found a great deal of dissatisfaction. The other company was slightly higher.  Robert Tabler did a great job explaining the products they would be using and answered all of my questions. He had samples with him and was able to work up the price while he was there.  We did go top of the line on the windows and doors which added to the price as well.  We have lived her for 24 years and the house needed a major facelift.  We love the new look! I believe in the adage - you get what you pay for.  We have learned that over the years the hard way.  This is the kind of job where you want it to be the best it can be - Lonestar made that happen.  Could not be more pleased!"

"It went fairly well, the installers Donny and Will were great and meticulous with the install. All of the windows were installed quickly and finished with trim wrap. The only snag with the install is one of the workers had a family emergency which pushed the install back a day (which caused a slight inconvenience as I have a dog that needed to be calmed). Overall I was pleased with the process as the Luck family did a great job overall. The price was a little higher than I expected for the windows, but they seem nice so it is probably worth the additional investment."

"I was contacted in the message portion of Angie's List by Mike Gunderson. We wrote back and forth a few times and finally settled on a date where he could swing by the house in question and measure for the free estimate. He sent the information. I asked a few questions. He called to answer a question for me by phone. Quite timely in his actions. I'd recommend his company for anyone considering roofing or other services offered simply based on my contact with Mike."

FAQs for new windows service projects in Ashland, VA

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
