"First and foremost Eduardo Landscape Services are honest and hard working. This job was perfect. It was a big job which included excavating the front yard, installing a new parking area, rebuilding an old paved driveway, building a large natural stone retaining wall, all new underground drainage, removing ledge and a new 14 X 30 patio. Eduardos crew was so impressive I took videos of them working. Ive been affiliated with different construction companies my entire life and this company rates with the best of them."

Customers say: Quick response

"A well done job at a fair price! I booked an appointment with them to plow out a long gravel driveway after a midwinter storm snowed us in. I greatly appreciated the quick response time along with the dedication Richard showed. Thanks again! "

"I needed my chimney rebuilt, and they did a beautiful job. Everything was clearly explained beforehand, with an eye on keeping costs under control while not compromising the necessary quality of the job. I was made aware of possible unforeseen complications that could arise once the work started, but none of these happened and there were no additions or overages to the price quoted. Once the work began they finished promptly on schedule and cleaned up as soon as possible. The owner, Loiue Ranieri, is terrific guy, friendly and easy to work with. In fact, he kindly did a couple of minor non-chimney house repairs for me at no cost. We’d been referred to Ranieri by a carpenter who’d recommended them, and we’re very glad he did. I give them my highest rating."

"It’s really beautiful. Carlos came out and assessed and we talked ; he measured and gave me a price from the start. He arranged to have me come to his current job site, so I could see the ideas that were being implemented and quality of work. Before starting, we altered and changed the design a little here and there and he always let me know if it would raise or lower costs. Carlos started when he said he would, finished when he said he would, works long consecutive days and is very well organized. He does all the work but smartly has a person or two in some days helping him mix cement, help with material movements and cleanup daily which was appreciated. The end result is a beautiful product with excellent ideas that he brought into the process. The scope of the work was 3 granite steps olus landing Of 41 inches and stone risers. Also a 28 foot approx walkway of brick pavers and a series of granite steps. Along the side cobblestone pavers For most of it. There was real attentions to construction detail in laying the stone and granite and hiding cement. That was important to me and it’s important Carlos. He RVN went and bought an extra piece of granite we hadn’t thought about needing but it was just sharper to do that. Carlos takes great pride in his work and even in the hard labor days he is happy to be creating. He had to cyst each piece of stone for the stair box and risers from huge chunky pieces and his price was fair, I had offers below but I didn’t have confidence in the masons work and I had offers that were above But to me seemed excessive. Carlos keeps his costs down by doing work himself and avoiding big equipment rentals when he can. I had faith in Carlos, and I think you can as well. Look at his portfolio and if u like something like it, or you have a picture you want him to use as guide- material, lay out etc, show him and hire him!"

"The work went very well. The men worked non stop for Three days. They were very professional but friendly. Curt was always responsive on phone when they discovered additional work to be done. The added cost was reasonable."

"Tony C. came over and took a number of measurements & photos, drew up a rough plan and went over our material and finish choices, which we had studied previously on-line and on Classic's website. The proposal/estimate cost $125 the day of the service (which we had agreed to in advance), and was well worth the expense. Had we gone ahead with the project, the fee would have been deducted from the project cost. Ultimately, we decided to hold off on this project for now - doing it with the material and finish we want turned out to be quite a bit more expensive than we had imagined. But we will certainly have Tony bid on the project when/if we do decide to go ahead. He was very professional in his dealing with us from the moment we first connected over the phone."

"John was awesome! He called me right back and came to provide an estimate at my earliest convenience. John and his crew are courteous, professional and efficient. We are using them biweekly now and plan to use them for fall and spring clean up as well. The work was done at the price discussed and exceeded expectations."

"Our work was done by Nick and his crew, and I can not say enough about the job these guys did! They went above and beyond with their work and even did other things on their own that were not part of the job.

As an example in our back yard we have this outdoor build called a governors cottage which has our hot tub in it. In digging up the back yard they pulled up the coax satellite cable that I forgot I burried there a few years ago. (There is a TV in the room with the Hottub) this was entirely my fault as I forgot that I even put the wire in. Well Nick was so good about it, that he went to Home Depot and purchased conduit and installed it so that I could rerun the cable when they were done with the patio.

As far as the patio goes, its AMAZING! And while Nick and his crew were working I made some changes (Added another wall) and Nick said no problem and got the extra material in the same day.

I was amazed at the speed they worked at yet they kept their attention on the details and made the patio look even better then my wildest dreams.

The front walkway also turned out amazing again the speed at what they worked and their attention to detail was top notch. And along the way they kept asking us if we were happy.

Each day they arrived promptly at 7am and worked hard up until 7pm. They didn't good off or take a lot of breaks. These were hard working guys and they took great pride in their work.

I wish I could post before and after pictures here to Angies List to show what an AMAZING job they did!

I would not hesitate to recommend J&D Landscaping to anyone."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Athol, MA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
