"I could not be more pleased and impressed with the Chapman experience. From the minute Mr. Chapman came out to assess the project till the day the job was complete. Chapman was first rate. Because of the pandemic it took awhile for the windows, etc to arrive from the manufacturer(s) but Chapman kept me in the loop during the wait Once the work was scheduled the crew (Ron and Mike and their associates) showed up on time and were a pleasure to have around. Ron, Mike and their crew were extremely polite, appear to enjoy working with each other, and everyone (regardless of their role) took pride in their work. The job took approximately a week to complete. During that time, the job site was protected throughout the job duration and cleaned up each evening. The demo work they needed to do to support the installation efforts was surgical and precise. The crew installed an interior wood (dutch) door and exterior entry door. Everything came prepped. Chapman matched the existing Baldwin hardware and woodwork for the interior door and provided quality locks and hinges for the exterior door. The window installation far exceeded my expectations as it was not a normal window install. The crew replaced a series of 12 windows that form a window array. They not only matched existing windows I had, but the care the crew took in installing, trimming out and finishing the new windows inside and out was extraordinary. Beautiful craftsmanship and attention to detail. The pictures don't do justice to the installation. I could not be more pleased. I would not hesitate to recommend Chapman and I would not hesitate to utilize Chapman's services again."

"Couldn't have gone any smoother! After reading the reviews on Angie's list, I made a call to Economy Glass. From my rough measurements, they were able to give me a ballpark price to start. They came out soon after to do an actual measurement, then set about manufacturing the insulated glass unit (with grid). We scheduled a date for installation a few weeks later and a two-man crew returned, scaffolding and all. After moving the furniture aside, they disassembled the old unit from inside the house and out, replaced it with the new window, cleaned up, and they were on their way in a few hours. No evidence they had even been here. Quiet, clean, courteous, "measure-twice-cut-once" professionals. Very reasonable price for the product and work accomplished, too. "

"the job went well and the results are quite satisfactory. wayne and the crew were highly professional and pleasant to work with. they had to remove the old, narrow side porch and save as many of the clay tiles as possible for reuse. the construction was well planned and executed. there was easy communication with wayne and his associates and in general, there was consultation with us. the only quibble we had was that in a few instances wayne made some decisions without consulting with us. for example, some of the materials used (metal sheathing vs. exposed wood) were decided by wayne without our input. as it turned out, we are satisfied with the look and feel of the porch, so his decision did not cause problems, but we might have chosen otherwise, if presented with chhoices. in the future, i would pay closer attention to such details and request options. another problem we ran into, not wayne's fault, was that we ended up short on the number of clay tiles. these were of an old vintage, and wayne had great difficulty in finding suitable replacements. this search went on for close to a year, until wayne fabricated the missing tiles from residual tile fragments. this part of the project was not resolved when the porch was done, and we got quite frustrated calling wayne repeatedly to finish the job (it WAS finished, except for the missing tiles, and we were enjoying the new porch). over all, i would use wayne's services again and would recommend him to others."

"Mr. Baker answered the phone the first time I called.  I did not have to leave a message and wait for someone to call me back.  He was very flexible with scheduling the estimate for a time that was convenient for me.  He came out at 8 am on a Saturday morning looked at the issue and immediately provided me with the estimate.  The work was then completed the following Wednesday, which was within four days of giving the estimate.  Did not have to wait a week or two to get the job done. <br /> With the help of an assistant, he took out the door and releveled the opening so that the door would close and lock properly.  This require the removal of some siding from the house as well as a little bit of the interior molding.  After the door was reinstalled, he spent a lot of time adjusting it to make sure the door closed securely.  It is now working better than before I had the issue.  The entire job took about 3 hours. <br />"

"We have used Ton Adams twice to install windows. Our interactions leading up to installation were positive. Expect to wait for an installation date though. It did take a while to get dates on the calendar both times. The crew lead by Jay is awesome, and we requested them multiple times. They are professional, friendly and personable. They took the time to do the installation correctly, and they also took the time to talk to us about issues or info about the windows. There were a couple minor issues. One involved a delivered screen that was not the right size. The other involved a broken piece of one window. Both issues were addressed professionally and fixed in a reasonable amount of time. As mentioned it can take some time to get things scheduled."

"Jason was able to come out the same day I called. He and his assistant assessed the problems, fixed them, and finished the job in under an hour. For me it was the difference between scraping my car windows the next day or getting into a (relatively) warm car. I couldn't be happier."

"Took 4-5 times of coming out to replace one section of a large 2nd story window that had storm damage. First window had a crack in it, so they had to re-replace it. About 11 months later, come to find out they used indoor caulk outside, so caulk was all cracked up. Luckily we were still under warranty, so they came back out and re-caulked, again, after 2-3 calls. In the end the work was done, but it was an aggravation process."

"Overall, the job went very well. The owner did the estimate very promptly. As soon as we were ready to have the work done, the work was scheduled and the Fish Window Cleaning crew showed up on-time and got right to work. We have many windows in our home with many different sizes. Our Family Room is a two-story room with large windows in the upper area. <br /> The crew did a great job inside and out. They worked quickly and without a lot of noise or mess. <br /> After the job was done, the owner sent me a Thank-You card, which was a nice touch, and also called a couple times to ensure that we were happy with the work. <br /> We were very happy with Fish WIndow Cleaning and will likely use their services again. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Avondale, PA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
