Small jobs welcome

"Daniel was very matter of fact, very serious about his job, and he was very good at his job too. Came out quickly, he was actually earlier than expected. Went underneath the house to find that the sewer pipe had a bow in it which he was prompt in fixing the issue."

"Great experience, they put a trap on washer drain and repaired main drain that had black pipe on it, and it was leaking (underground). They had to chip concrete to get to the black pipe. Checked in my attic and under the floor for roof vents and did a smoke test before and after to see if any smoke was coming out of the drains in the house and in the ground. They cleaned up before leaving, didn't leave me a mess, and were very nice people to work with."

"<p>We experienced a clog in the pipes leading from our kitchen sink on Thanksgiving and we were unable to unclog it ourselves.  Several hours later we noticed a small leak from one of the pipes.  We called S&S Plumbing that night and after determining that as long as there was no water in the sink, the leak would stop, S&S Plumbing said they would be out the next morning by 10 am.  They called before coming and arrived early.  It was quickly discovered that there were several issues going on, least of which was the clog.  At one point, we had four people working on the issue, all at the same hourly quote.  They provided us with a solution that was both cost effective and did not require major work or time.  We could not recommend them more strongly.</p> <br />"

"They have always been very prompt and the technician comes out and checks everything and tells me everything is ok and then he leaves. When I called about the compressor they were out within 48 hours. They are prompt and they clean up after themselves. They were very professional and I would use them again in the future."

"Overall it went well. We got a later start due some mechanical problems while picking up supplies. But Bradley worked in the dark to get the job done. It was a long day for him and his helper Mark, and due to the costs he had to incur on his equipment, I know he barely made anything on the job, but the estimate he gave is pretty much what I paid."

"The past few days have been unseasonably hot and I noticed that the fan on the air conditioning unit would start off strong and, after a few hours, have very little force. I researched this problem on the internet and narrowed it down to a damaged/freezing coil or a low freon level. <br /> I looked for a local HVAC company with good references. I also had my wife check for any recent ads. She found a coupon for Absten and Sons. There were several discount options available, so I called and made an appointment for the next day after 1 pm, as they were very busy. <br /> Joe, the technician, called and said that he was ahead of schedule and made it to my house about an hour ahead of time. He thoroughly checked the inside and outside units. He discovered that the freon level was about 2 pounds low but did not find any leaks, damage or other serious issues. Joe was very helpful. We discussed the pros and cons of my system and what may need to be done in the future to keep it running good. <br /> My only complaint would be with the billing. There was a service fee of $65 just to come out plus $85 per hour. I haven't had to call out a tech in quite a while so that may be customary. Fortunately, Joe called his boss who approved the use of a coupon I had for waiving the service fee if repair work was completed. I'm not certain that the service met the coupon stipulations but any company that is willing to save a man a dollar these days will get my repeat business! <br /> Overall, my first experience with Absten and Sons was excellant. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Barboursville, WV

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
