"My garage door would not close and was stuck open with both cables on either side of the door unspooled from the drum and essentially locking the door at 3ft open. I used Angi to look up nearby contractors and A1 came up. They contacted me very quickly and when I acknowledged I needed service, they were on site within the hour! The end result is that they repaired my issue so that I can use the door again. To get to that point - they walked me through what they planned to do. Midway through the repair, they did ask to meet with me to recommend fully replacing all bars, springs, cables and tracks (for about $1600-$1800), but I declined as I was not ready to make that large a decision and may want to change the garage door in the future. There was a bit of back and forth on whether they would tighten the springs which were insufficiently wound, but they did in the end. I would work with them again. I'd prefer full discussion on what they can do to finish the requested job first."

"Excellent......this is the second time I had Jeff out to our place (I think the first time was to replace a broken spring). He's a big strapping guy with a good personality that you'll instantly feel comfortable with. The first time we met him was a few years ago when he replaced our springs. That was a bit more of an emergency situation but I checked the review for our area as best I could and everyone I found seemed to like Jeff. That time he replaced the springs and about 3 rollers that he thought were running a bit crooked and did some alignment things. This time I just called him for a routine maintenance because personally I think that's a good thing to do from time to time, and I liked the guy and felt comfortable with his input. He took a look at things, did some of the usual lubrication stuff, recommended replacing a few of the rollers that we hadn't replaced before, then was on his way. His personal opinion was that the garage door didn't seem to be in any sort of major stress and should be good for the immediate future. That's pretty much what I thought as well.........he also sent a thank you card within a couple days so that tells you what kind of guy he is.......he's a normal guy trying to earn an honest living that appreciates your business......
