"Excellent! I called Thompson's Masonry for an estimate on chimney work. Bob came out within 45 minutes of the phone call and determined that we needed some repairs on our chimney, not a complete rebuild as had been told to us by other companies that had come out (rebuild prices ranging from $1500 to over $4000!). He also pointed out some tuckpointing that needed done on other brick on our house. He said he could do the work the next day. The price and timing were perfect, so we hired him. He showed up the next morning when he said he would (he was even a little early...bonus points!) and worked all day. He communicated with me throughout the day re: the progress. He was always courteous, respectful, and just a nice guy! The whole process was a positive one. The finished chimney and tuckpointing look great! I am so thankful I found Thompson's Masonry on Angie's List and we have already recommended him to friends who need masonry work. Thank you, Bob, for the excellent responsiveness, punctuality, professionalism, and GREAT workmanship!!!"

"This was another excellent job by S Bradley Company. I have used them several times before (roof, insulation, door) having an excellent experience every time. This job was the replacement of my side door (both entry and storm door). Scott comes to measure and provides a detailed estimate. He is very much a pleasure to work with. Scott allowed me to buy my own doors. His estimate was only for the installation service. It took several weeks for my entry door to arrive from Lowes (almost exactly on the date Lowes projected). I had all materials delivered to my house. Soon after the door arrived. Scott set an installation date. There was a postponement, because the weather was both extremely cold and very windy. This was entirely understandable. A new date was set. Ryan was the installer and did a great job. He worked alone and was also very much a pleasure to do business with. On the first of two installation days, Ryan installed the entry door. He did not leave until the entry door was completely installed and functional. He came back two days later (as planned due to bad weather forecast for the very next day) and installed the storm door. He did an excellent job. He demonstrated a high standard of service and care. The door works perfectly. Based on my numerous experiences with S Bradley and Company, I can recommend them highly for door installation, roof tear-offs, and insulation work. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED."

"The Chubb Co. used a compact power digger to reach my clogged footer drain and were very careful to install new PVC pipe at the proper slope to my drain to the street. They put 3 coats of two kinds of sealer on the walls. And they discovered that a previous cement installation had been poured under my back door sill. They corrected this code violation by removing the cement and rebar and rebuilding, with bricks, the top of the foundation under the door sill. They did not charge me extra for this little "surprise". They cleaned and tested the drains that go to the street drains. Additionally they removed, to the first joint, the old driveway concrete and the short sidewalk which is on the same level as the driveway. And they installed two new cleanout pipes where the new work joins the old drains. They kept the area clean after each day's work and answered any questions I had as they proceeded. All four guys were pros at what they did! And they arranged for a local HVAC company to move and reinstall my AC. This was an additional charge. The contract was precise and they did everything as written and even beyond with the rebuild of the door sill. The concrete and last of the topsoil will be installed this Monday or Tuesday."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Beachwood, OH

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
