"Rock Solid Construction created a beautiful extension to my front porch with attributes of brick face and a green stone/mortar surface that blended well with the existing surface. Their professionalism and dedication to high quality product and customer service and satisfaction were clearly their highest priorities. The job included installing a wood deck railing and completing the job with acid wash of the stone surface on a Saturday. Upon my request, they willingly extended the brick face project and completed to my satisfaction. I so much appreciated the quality and service that I contracted a concrete driveway and sidewalk with Rock Solid Construction, as well."

"Work was generally of high quality with some minor painting issues. Arthur Jackson did an excellent job of analyzing problems unique to the house and proposing and implementing effective solutions. Floor replacement and refinishing work was particularly well done."

"We moved from Florida, into a renovated house in Roanoke Virginia, after an exhaustive search. The house, although beautifully renovated, left a few areas that really needed attention. Our basement was half-finished, providing us with a family room, including a wet bar. But the other side of the basement, which herein shall be called "the dungeon" was a dark, raw, fully exposed area. There was a washer/dryer hookup, but that was all. My wife hated it. Exposed wood, cement floor... cavernous. We hired Martin Services, here in Roanoke, VA, to do the renovation. Dan Martin gave us a very fair bid on the project, and we accepted. We described what we wanted: - frame out an area approximately 12x12, into a laundry room, with 4 walls, and a door into the remaining storage area. - all of the pipes, dryer exhaust, and heating ducts to be enclosed. - a drop ceiling put in with new LED lighting. - ceramic tile installed. - three cabinets installed, with an L-Shaped counter top. - a sink in the counter-top, with a detachable hand sprayer. All of this, plus the electrical work, plumbing, painting and finishing. Dan and his crew were courteous, always on time (and a lot of this was over the Christmas holidays), and very expert in their work. Dan made sure we were happy with every phase of the project, always communicating with us. Everything was completed to our extreme satisfaction. The room is no longer a dungeon. In fact, my wife looks for laundry to do, just to hang out in the room. I would hire Martin Services for any project, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a competent, fair, professional and very friendly contractor."

"Kenny Pollard did a super job from start to finish. We had contacted many chimney repair people, most of whom would not even follow up with us after they looked at the job, flat out said they couldn't , or gave us an astronomical price. Kenny was a godsend.  He was very optimistic about the job (which was difficult as the roof has a very high pitch) and always worked out ways to overcome problems he encountered along the way. A hydraulic lift was required to do the job.  He was tenacious in finding the right size and at the best price.  He did a few extra things at the end that made the job look more complete and professional that we had not even thought of.  He thoroughly cleaned up the worksite at the completion of the work The cost of the job was VERY reasonable and did not change once he got into the repair.  Having the chimneys repaired has made this old house look more substantial and ready to survive another 100 years!
Kenny was very easy to get along with and kept the lines of communication going during the whole project  .We will definitely use him again for any type of masonry work we have.

"William arrived as promised, completed the concrete pad on schedule, returned as promised and completed the block structure. Once the concrete porch was poured he restored the foundation stone facing and most important he matched the stone and the mortar perfectly. Very reasonable prices for excellent quality work. Very easy to work with and a man with a wide range of restoration capabilities. He is excellent with brick, stone and slate."

Just wanted to drop a line or two and let you all know how impressed we were with both your workmen and their work.  In today's society, you just don't find companies that really do a great job, they usually just do enough to "get by".

At times, without their knowledge, I was home and could hear some of the men talking.  Much to my surprise, their language and subject matter were always appropriate.  Don't find that much in the labor force today!  It spoke volumes to me.  When they did speak with us, they were always very kind and informative.

The work that was performed consisted of excavating the dirt to gain access to the footings on both sides of the foundation.  On the inside, they had to bust out the concrete floor and hand dig to the footing in order to install their brackets for the "unified lift system".  After installing the brackets, they attached special hydraulic equipment to the brackets which drove 3" diameter

pipes down to bedrock.  Next, they attached a hydraulic jacking system to each pier location.  Using their special vehicle with a unique hydraulic pumping system they attached hydraulic lines to each location and were able to do a controlled lift.  From what we understand, your company is one of the only ones that can perform this "unified lift".

We were taking pictures daily and emailing them out to family and friends who could not believe their eyes!  They started out making our basement look like a bomb went off and when they were done it was swept and looking very nice!

All this to say that the work done was absolutely astonishing!  We will highly recommend EHM to everyone that we hear may need this type of work completed.

Thanks so much again.  We were dreading having this work completed, but you all made it so much nicer by your

expertise, kindness, and professionalism.

"After we laid out the location and orientation of the structure, Mr. Romano proceeded to have the site excavated, formed and poured the footer.  He then formed and poured the basement walls, 8 inch reinforced concrete.  After that he poured the basement floor, and the floor between the basement and the main floor.  Then he formed the walls (6 inch Reenforced concrete) for the upper level.  The truses were put in place and the roof decked.  The rest was basically finishing.
During the whole project if he was not satisfied with the result, he did it over.  The trim work was outstanding, the window installation is tight.  We put in air to air heat exchangers because the house is so tight.  You will not find a draft of outside air any where in the house.
We have lived in the house for almost 7 years without any issue.  If I could control it, I would never build a house without using Insulated Concrete Forms.  I without hesitation recommend Mr. Romano for any residential construction task."

"Reputable contractor who did quality work.    Joe Condo, owner, was onsite leading the work everyday.
I found Pyramid via internet search looking for chimney repair contractors in the area.  After a few days of phone tag, Joe came out for a site visit to inspect the chimneys and give a quote for repairs.   We have a 100 yr old Victorian house with two original construction chimneys.   The mortar on both chimneys above the roof was crumbling, with one chimney held together by chicken-wire installed by the previous house owner.   Work scope involved rebuilding both chimneys from just below the roof line up.  Joe appeared very knowledgeable and experienced during his inspection.   The quote was received within a week of Joe's initial visit.    Due to other scheduled work, it was 6 weeks (late Oct) until Pyramid could come out to begin the work.
Total construction took 2 weeks, from scaffold erection to final dismantle.    Joe and Dennis (helper) were very courteous and careful about trying to protect the property and roof from damage due to the construction.     First day was to erect the scaffold and lay pads and boards across the roofline around the chimneys.  2nd day was dismantle of 1st chimney, lowering old bricks and mortar to the ground via buckets and with tarps spread across the attic to catch debris.   3rd day was dismantle of the 2nd chimney to just below the roofline.
Note:   With chimney's below the roofline, our furnace (which vents thru one chimney) had to be turned off until the chimney could be rebuilt above the roofline.   Outdoor temps during construction time (late Oct/early Nov) dipped to 30 degrees, with indoor temps in the 50's without heaters.   Joe offered to provide indoor heaters if needed - - - but the topic of living without heat was not discussed during the original job scoping.     Something to consider when scheduling work in cold months.   We ended up living more than a week without regular heat in the house.    Might consider scheduling work during warmer months.
Day 5 was taken up with delivering the new bricks to the site.  Day 6 and 7 involved rebuilding chimney one, Day 8 and 9 for rebuilding chimney two.    A couple days were then lost waiting on the roofer to come install flashing around the new chimneys, as well as for fabrication of new chimney caps.    The next work day involved installing the chimney caps, installing flashing around both chimneys, and beginning clean-up.   The last day was spent tearing down the scaffolding and cleaning up.    They left the property in the same condition they found it, good final cleanup.
Overall, Pyramid did a good job.   New chimneys look good, much better than the old with crumbling mortar and bricks.    Joe did a good job of communicating work status and his plans for the next few days.    Their work quality looks good, but only time will tell as to whether the flashing holds up to a heavy rain.    I chose to let Joe provide the roofer as a subcontractor rather than my trying to coordinate a local independent roof contractor to work with Pyramid - - - some delays, but worked OK.
Total cost seemed a little pricey, but hard to compare since there are not many chimney contractors in the local area.    Pyramid is located about 60 miles from our house, so there was a significant commute for Joe and co everyday.   But onsite work hours were consistently 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.
In summary - - - Good, knowledgeable experienced contractor that I would recommend for quality chimney repair.

"Excellent job! Michael and his dad removed 125 feet of stubborn forsythia bushes, hauled them away, and sewed grass seed and covered the area with straw. They were on time and worked consistently until the job was completed. The price was very reasonable. I will contact for additional projects."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Bedford, VA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
