"Mauricio and Crisjan were the initial sales reps who came to examine the issue and they took the time to test drainage that might have potentially been creating the water issue. They offered a reasonable solution (sealing the visible cracks and holes in the concrete and I was contacted within a couple of days with an estimate and scheduling options. Sean was our tech and he did a fantastic job diagnosing the issue beyond just the cracks. He not only address all the holes and cracks in the concrete and mortar, he sealed up additional entry points above the foundation. He sourced additional materials to cover openings for cable lines. He went above and beyond and gave us measured information on how we should continue to monitor and treat this area as the house settles. He was thorough, informative, and provided excellent service in his work. I'm very glad that Sean was the technician sent to us and I would specifically request him for your projects."

"This is the second time that I have used S&S Waterproofing and Foundation Repair. The first time was to fix very large sink holes that were opening up in my front yard, apparently due to underground collapsed drainage piping. This time, when I contacted Steve I asked if they did retaining walls. Steve came to look at the job. I immediately expressed my concern with my limited budget, which Steve completely understood. He offered several options on how to complete the job within my budgetary constraints. We hired S&S Waterpoofing and Foundation Repair to do the job. During each phase of the job, Steve sent me photos of the job progression. He answered any questions that I had almost immediately via text message. Most importantly, he also made sure that my wife was onboard with anything that they were doing. Apparently he knows who controls the money and who the boss is! LOL! Additionally, during the job Steve identified issues with a previous contractors work and addressed those for me as well. Steve is very concerned with customer satisfaction, that is incredibly important to me and my wife! The end result was a beautiful retaining wall. The only thing better than the beauty of the wall is how well it works, drainage is completely handled with ease, even during bad rainstorms! I am sure this is not the end of our relationship, I will be calling Steve for any of my construction needs in the future! "I appreciate the professionalism of this company. My chimney was not simple to fix (a botched lining by a prior homeowner plus decomposing brick) - Oscar and his team worked very hard to keep on deadline and finish the job completely to my satisfaction.  They hacked through solid concrete on the interior of the old chimney to fix the problem and redid several hours worth of brick-laying when I decided that the pattern was not coming out to my liking. At the end, when the city permit inspector required a slight modification, Oscar returned to complete the job at no further charge.

"The recent hurricane left water in our finished basement. Steve came out and evaluated the problem and suggested installing drainage to divert surface water away from the foundation. At my request he also installed a retaining wall behind the house. Steve is extremely knowledgeable and his men do great work. If you have a water problem, call Steve first."

"Val was prompt and came to my house to provide an estimate. He came again to review the site of the work prior to it being done and he was quite polite. The original cost estimate was $3450.00 and when I asked about discounts for Angie's customers, he indicated that he was giving me the best price. I had gotten estimates with other contractors and his was the most expensive. The others were not that much cheaper, but, because he was prompt, professional, responsive, and the reviews were good, I went with him. Unfortunately, the quality of the work was sloppy at best. He said it would take them 2 days to finish the job and it did. I was out of town while they were working and when I returned, my yard was a mess. I was told that the concrete truck would come up the driveway, but whatever equipment was used, was also driven through my front yard. I had asked Val what I needed to do to help prepare for the work, and other than moving the outdoor lights, he said nothing. To my dismay, my azaleas, my hostas, and my herb garden were damaged during the process. If I had known that these plants would have been a problem, I would have removed them myself and covered my herb garden. The workers did re-seed the yard and put hay over the damaged areas, but they did not fill in the dirt where the vehicle was driven across my yard and they put the seeds on top of the soil where the concrete dust was. Of course, concrete damages the soil and there is no way that the grass was going to grow well in the damaged areas. When I complained to Val about this, he did send the workers back out to redo the front yard. They came back within 2 days. So, I did appreciate his responsiveness. But the bigger problem is that my stairs are not even. The base and stairs are slanted to the right, the stairs are not evenly spaced, and the craftsmanship is very poor. None of the edges or corners are straight. Its just sloppy. I just don't understand. When I brought this to Val's attention he indicated that the concrete was drying fast and that they did the best that they could. Well, anyone who is a professional at mixing and pouring concrete should know how to do this and make sure that the stairs are even. You should also know which type of concrete to use for the job and that concrete that dries too fast for such a large pour is probably not the best option. Either way, they are the experts and should know. I asked that he take some money off, so we agreed that the price should be reduced by $500.00. I could have asked that they start over, but I dont have the confidence that they would do it right the second time. I am going to have to get someone to come lay flagstone or some other stone to even out the stairs and level them. Even from the street, you can see how uneven everything is. I am quite disappointed and will never work with this contractor again. Perhaps they are good at patios, but they are not good at pouring concrete."

"The owner did a good job and the price was very reasonable.  The people assisting him lacked the skill to perform tasks without a lot of direction but they are hard workers.  The owner made some mistakes.  He poured concrete for a long sidewalk and a 10'x10' completed shape utility slab.  It was more work than he could handle because he needed to be at both locations at the same time.  He should have done them on different days.  The second mistake was not knowing and checking the color of the concrete dye.  Instead of being the requested light brown color it was a bright orange.  This was fixed by pressure washing the powder off the concrete and painting it with paint.  Overall it looks good but not the color I expected.  They also did a good job reworking part of the yard by removing bushes, preparing the soil and replanting.  Overall they did a good job for a good price.  I expect them to get better at concrete work with experience. | |Note to Angies List: the price ratings are labeled A-F,  It doesn't make sense to me, should be "high" - "low"."

"I was very impressed by their company. They were several days out in scheduling but the project manager went the same day to get the materials and came back the following day with his mason to finish it up. They explained exactly what they were doing and provided me with a warranty and 24 hour service. The area around the baywindow is where my sons play area is. They made sure everything was properly covered and were pleasant to work which hasn't been my experience with other contractors in the past. I recommended them to my parents as they were looking to get their kitchen floors redone and they a binder of work they have done and services they offer. "Ronnie and his crew did a great job from start to finish. Stallings was recommended to us by the tree removal company to do the emergency repairs on the house. They arrived the next day to put on a temporary roof and walls to make the house weather tight. The quality of the work led us to hire them to do the full repairs. "Mr. Yoder started construction in November, approximately three weeks later than planned. This was due to his having been unexpectedly hospitalized with appendicitis. However, in that time he kept us completely informed as to his status and when he expected to start by calling us at least once a week. He also ensured all government paperwork and permits were obtained and this effort was part of the final bill.

The work went very smoothly, with some inevitable, though minor delays due to bad weather (it was November and December, after all). He cleard the foundation area and three-foot-deep holes for the main support posts, which were anchored with cement. He next put up all of the framing, siding, roof, etc. and installed the windows and doors.

Work such as laying the concrete for the floor, intalling gutters and downspouts and electrical work were handled by subcontractors, the price of which also was included in the final bill. Please note, the original asking price was about $19,000, but we requested some additions, such as wall insulation and installing a new sidewalk concurrent with the garage foundation, which added to the price.

The work began on Nov. 16, 2011, and was finished just before Christmas.
