"From quote to finish, working with Craftsmen Home Improvements was a fantastic experience. This was my first major house project as a new(ish) homeowner, and I was nervous. I chose Craftsmen because Jim Kosloski was one of the only salesmen I talked with whom I felt was being straight with me, their exceptional labor warranty, and their emphasis on customer service. They were not the cheapest quote, but I figured that working with a company that will make sure the customer is well taken care of and backs its work for a lifetime was worth a little extra. I was not disappointed! Ellie Palmer was my Project Manager and she was incredible. She was in constant communication during the project, making sure I knew what was going on, resolving any issues (ex: the regular supplier was out of the shingle I wanted so she found it somewhere else), and answering all my questions. Her responsiveness was next level. They were spot on with their timing and everything and everyone showed up and left when they were supposed to. Everyone I interacted with from the crews was friendly and helpful. The clean up was great and the results look amazing. Even my neighbors were impressed! There were a couple minor issues along the way, but they were all fixed quickly, with no fuss, and at no extra cost. I couldn’t be happier and, with windows and siding projects in my future, I’m sure I’ll be calling Craftsmen again."

"They did an excellent job.  The roof was completed as promised and looks great.  Our ceiling has never looked this good since we purchased the house.  EZ Home Solutions made the process easy for us.  Our home had suffered damage in a massive hail storm along with thousands of homes in our area.  EZ Home solutions dealt with our insurance company and even dealt with our mortgage company (which is not easy even for simple things).  I appreciated that they communicated with us frequently as to where we were in the process with insurance, and in the queue having a crew out to our home.  I would use them again. <br />"

"The job took two days. The crew arrived on time both days. We are happy with the work. We're having an audit of the work done by Neighborhood Energy Connection to understand how much of the walls were filled. If NEC finds significant voids, Thermal Boundaries said they will return to fill them. We already notice a lessened temperature difference between the first and second floors of our house! Update on December 15, 2010: We're still happy with Thermal Boundaries' work. Since more has transpired about our project, I want to include an update. Upon the suggestion of a non-profit that helps homeowners improve the energy efficiency of homes, we had an audit of Thermal Boundaries' work perform with a portable infrared camera and a blower door. (About $150 to do this.) The audit found places that were missing insulation, which can happen because of obstructions in wall cavities or other assumptions about wall construction that don't apply for a particular house. (The auditor said the wall space totalled about 25 sq ft, which is above what they would allow for some private and public energy efficiency programs.) So, I contacted Thermal Boundaries to schedule a return visit. They showed up today as scheduled, took a look at the audit information, and then filled the areas at no additional cost, as had been discussed when we hired them. Having them stand by their word adds to my satisfaction with their work and makes me increasingly likely to recommend them. Thanks again Thermal Boundaries!"

"Scott did an amazing job on our fence repair. Our wooden fence had some rotting posts and the fence was falling in as a result. Scott took out the rotting posts and replaced them with new ones. He cut the old posts into pieces so they would be ready to put out for trash pick-up. We had ropes holding up the fence, and he and his team removed those as part of the job. He is very service-oriented and did very high quality work!"

"My small animal hospital had many small repair issues that I was unable to complete myself. <br /> I looked up Jim on Angie's list and found him to be personable and efficient. The work was completed to my <br /> satisfaction and in a timely manner. Jim truly is a handyman but is willing to admit when a job needs to be done <br /> by another trade. I will use Jim in the future. <br />"

"To be honest - I was very disheartened by the company.  The sales guy was pretty good, initially.  We chose insulated vinyl siding to help with noise outside the home and insulation as well.  We placed the order for it.  I received a phone call at the end of the job and I asked the job foreman to leave a section of the insulated siding to show potential buyers when we sell the home.  There was a long pause and a "sir, you didn't get insulated vinyl" response.  When I told him I indeed had ordered that, he said that he would get back with me.  I received a call from the sales guy a short time later and he stated it was due to the fact that we had 6" exterior walls and people usually don't order insulated siding with 6" walls.  He admitted his error and offered to have the siding guys come back out and reinstall. <br /> Between the end of the job and the phone call - I had found multiple piles of nails in the yard and a half eaten english muffin on my deck, hidden under some plants.  I informed the sales guy that I don't want his guys back out to my house and that he'll need to make amends for the error.  The company did make amends (after much haggling...), however, considering the nails and muffin left behind and the fact that they didn't seem to pay close attention to the job order - I can't even give them an "average" rating.  I can't believe the "average" company would make those mistakes and leave such a mess behind."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Belle Plaine, MN

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
