"One thing that stood out to me when I was talking to other businesses about replacing my shower was the fact that I always had a quick response from this company, and they answered every question I had not only before, but during and after the shower was installed"

"Helping my mom update her bathroom was something I took very seriously. She?s getting older, and her old bathtub was becoming difficult ? and honestly unsafe ? for her to use. We decided to convert it into a walk-in shower and upgrade the fixtures to better suit her needs. Century City Baths made the entire process feel reassuring from start to finish. The installation team was wonderful. They treated my mom?s home with respect, worked carefully, and kept everything clean and organized. The workmanship is excellent ? everything feels sturdy, well-installed, and thoughtfully placed. What means the most to me is the peace of mind. My mom can now use her bathroom safely and comfortably, and she actually enjoys the space again. It?s bright, modern, and designed with her needs in mind."

"We love our new shower! Our bathroom needed an update from its original 2001 build, and we needed a custom sized larger shower to replace the small one we had. Alex took time to sit with us and discuss our needs and came up with a solution. He and his team were wonderful to work with and we couldn’t be happier!"

"We were very pleased with the results of this work.  The work was done a few months ago and I initially decided to wait a few weeks before submitting a review to see if any issues arose.  That the few weeks turned into a few months was due solely to my procrastination and not to any major problems.  A couple of minor matters came up early on and these were handled by Mark or one of his guys almost instantly and without drama. <br /> The job included a complete remodel of everything except the two vanities, though one vanity top was replaced with granite.  We were responsible for purchasing the minor fixtures (including faucets, shower heads, towel bars, new cabinet pulls and knobs) as well as the new ceramic tile for the floors, shower stall floor, and tub and shower stall walls.  Mark accompanied us to purchase these fixtures as well as those included in the contract price (e.g., tub, medicine cabinets, toilets, light fixtures, exhaust fans, etc).  We liked that we could have some input into selection of some of the items he supplied rather than just having to accept "standard" items.  He made no attempt to steer us to the cheapest options for the items he included in the contract.  He gave us specs for purchase of the tiles and suggested three suppliers in our area.  He offered to accompany us for these purchases also, but we felt we had this in hand by ourselves. <br /> He was able to start the work a couple of weeks after we agreed to the proposal and put down the deposit.  Once started, his guys worked without interruption other than taking Sundays off.  They kept the work area as clean as one could reasonably expect given the type of work involved and they always cleaned up at the end of the day. <br />  Since we did not previously have exhaust fans, the work included running duct work to the outside plus some additional electrical work rather than a simple replacement in kind.  Several recessed lighting fixtures (included in the contract price) were installed and made a big difference both in utility an appearance. Finally, all walls, ceilings, and the wooden vanity surfaces were painted (This involved some wallpaper removal.).  Removal of all debris was covered in the contract. <br /> I would like to highlight the work on the shower stall which is in the smaller bathroom that lacks a tub.  Previously, the stall was dark and almost claustrophobic.  He was able to remove part of a non load bearing wall and a soffit over the existing shower door.  These sections as well as the door were replaced with thick tempered glass.  This had a dramatic effect and seemed to open up the entire room as well as the stall itself. <br /> As to cost, we had gotten three estimates.  All differed somewhat with respect to what was included.  One was much higher than the other two and didn't seem to offer anything to justify the higher cost.  Because of the differences in what was included, we cannot be sure which of the other two would be higher or lower.  Our best guess was that Modern View would turn out to be slightly  higher than the other, but not enough to matter very much or influence our choice.  We went with Mark because he seemed more in sync with what we we after, his Angie's list reviews were strong, and we believed we could work well with him, a belief that was confirmed by our subsequent experience. <br /> As I said earlier, we were very pleased with the work.  Dated early 1970s bathrooms were turned into clean modern looking rooms. <br />"

"Everyone, from the salesman to the contractors, did a great job on the remodel of the shower. Their skilled workmanship on the porcelain tile, stone floor, and glass barn door was beautiful. They were very conscious of cleanliness. Jose and his crew were great and he was always available via phone. Would highly recommend and use them again."

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Bloomingdale, IL

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
