"<p>We have a dining room table with eight chairs and two leaves that is made of high quality solid oak.  It was also stained with a light oak stain and didn't go with the vast majority of our living area furniture, which is an espresso color.  Ginn Furniture is about an hour away from our home, so I sent photos via e-mail and received a quote from Danny Ginn for refinishing everything.  Shortly after we visited the company when we were in the area, showed them a sample drawer of the finish we were looking for, and arranged to have the work done.  Because of the number of pieces, Danny and his wife, Linda, came to our home to pick them up.  We told them we needed the dining room set back no later than six weeks, as we were expecting out of town company.  Danny called less than four weeks later to say it was ready to be delivered. But he ended up calling back the next day to say he wasn't perfectly satisfied with the way the table top came out and wanted to work on it a little more.  He's the expert, so that was fine with us.  He ended up delivering the set two days later and it was beautiful, just the color we wanted.  On further inspection, there was a small smudge mark on the seat of one of the chairs.  Danny insisted on taking it back to the shop, fixed it, and drove back the next day, an hour each way, to return it.  He wanted it to be right.  </p> <p>The professionalism of Ginn Furniture is excellent and they are great people to work with.  Family owned and run for three generations, a great deal of experience, and very sweet people.  There are not many places like this anymore across the country.  </p> <p>Every time we walk by that dining room set we couldn't be happier.</p> <br />"

"Outstanding workmanship! Thoroughly professional in all aspects. Recliners were picked up on schedule and completed and returned as promised. The recliners are Bernhardt leather recliners and are extremely well made. After twenty plus years of constant use our choice was to replace or find an exceptional reupholstering craftsman. Willie Young's Uphoostery did a wonderful job."

"George Russo came on Monday to take a look at our dining room table legs.  One leg had broken away from the table's center base and another leg was just starting to pull away from the base.  He told us what the problem seemed to be, gave us an idea of the repairs needed, an estimated cost and a time to complete.  He took the table base to his shop, made the repairs, strengthened all the leg connections and returned the base to us in the time frame he had said he would, one week later.  We view the cost as very reasonable and very happy with the results. <br />"

I can custom refinish just about any piece of furniture or home decor item you may have as well as carry already refinished pieces in my shop. You may email me a picture of your already purchased piece with a brief description of what you would like done so that I can draw you up a quick estimate of the cost to refinish it. Most pieces must be delivered to me, however in some cases a pick-up and delivery fee can be added to the total cost; All costs are due before work begins on custom jobs.

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Bluffton, SC

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
