"Caleb Biggs is a consummate professional, who gave us better-than-expected results refinishing and refurbishing a 40-year-old dining table. Caleb is a gentleman, a skilled craftsman, imminently trustworthy, and extremely knowledgeable. We would hire him again in a minute. Wish I could give him 6 stars!"

"Highly recommend Jordon! Very professional, outgoing personality, trustworthy, and honest! He built a gazebo for us that said it needed 3/4 people to build. Kept us updated throughout the process as we was working while we was and would even reach out if he fount a dent, scratch, etc to see if we would like it to get replaced before it assembled."

"Gary Bennett came to the house to provide an estimate to finish a large bedroom suite that included a large headboard, 2 end tables, a dresser, a vanity, and  a very large mirror. There were several mix-ups (like the company losing our contact information) that caused some delay. We were not in any hurray, so the delay was not problematic. This was a very expensive furniture set with lots of detail, so we understood it would be expensive to refinish. It also had sentimental value. I only gave a B on price because I have no sense of the cost/value of this work. The company would have moved the furniture out of the bedroom and back after completion. I found it easier to have it ready for pick-up in the garage. The work was done beautifully and exceeded our expectations. <br>"

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Louisville, KY

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
