"They refinished an old, ugly, 25-year old oak table that I hated but couldn't toss out because it was a sturdy, higher-quality piece of furniture that felt wasteful to replace. I am so glad I found them as the refinishing turned out beautiful, really, really, beautiful. Looks like new, actually better than new. If I could, I would send all my wood furniture to them to restore."

"Sanchez Furniture Refinishers is the best. They did two large pieces for me and they look wonderful. Very, very pleased. I’m hiring them again for another project. "

"Everything went perfectly. The technician from Furniture and Repairs, Inc. arrived within the designated window, surveyed the damaged, and was able to fix it quickly. He even showed me how to fix it myself, if the problem should arise again. All in all, some of the best service I've received from a repair company/contractor, ever!"

"We had an expensive leather sectional couch that was looking pretty sad after 10 years of kids, pets and parties. We were expecting to have to replace both the leather cushions as well as the padding. Bill suggested we only replace the cushions and just have the leather cleaned, resurfaced and colored, which saved us a lot of money. We took him up on this--he re-did the cushions for us and did a nice job on them, then hooked us up with someone else to re-furb the leather. <br /> We were very pleased with the results--the couch looks and feels great. <br />"

"Studio teak did not disappoint!! I have a 30 year old oak cedar chest that I got from my grandparents... I just moved in to a new home and wanted to make it a focal point in the master bedroom! Thomas and crew took my ideas and refinished the chest far beyond what I thought was possible! It turned out AMAZING!!"

"He was prompl in coming to pick up the table and leaf to the table, he told me it would take 2 weeks and it did he called me on Friday and said it was finished, and I told him I  wouldn't be able to have him come with it until Monday morning, he told me it was alright it need time to dry. FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Sacramento, CA

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
