"My wife and I are absolutely delighted with the work performed by Noriega Masonry. Yes, we did have a delay in receiving word from Jesse, the owner, but it was well worth the wait (!) and Everardo was effective as our point man for any questions and arranging for when the work would take place.
Helpful suggestions for anyone considering installing permanent concrete block planter, retaining, or free-standing walls:
1. Have a reputable engineer providing guidance and any plans used to file permits.
2. Have clear, documented hardscape plans to share with your contractor. This mitigates any misunderstandings in what you expect of your contractor. Also take time to visualize your project, so that you are comfortable with this major undertaking.
3. Determine what, if any, part of the project you will perform (In my case, I acted as my own prime contractor), performing:
a) my own hardscape design and rebar placement down to the block
b) preparing plans, while interacting with an engineering service team that furnished diagrams and load calculations that I personally submitted to County to acquire permits;
c) renting equipment, cutting and framing trenches, while removing excess dirt with the assistance of a dump truck service;
d) framing foundations and laying Type 2 gravel beds;
e) designing purchasing 1 ton of 20 foot length iron and iron assemblies from a local fabricator (with certifications);
f) contracting with a plumbing service to install underground gas lines to our outdoor fireplace and BBQ area;
g personally assembling the iron reinforcement, meeting County permit requirements; and
h) contracting directly with the concrete provider and pump service to pour foundations and later grout blocks
The cost for Noriega Masonry performing my portion of the work would have been understandably more expensive, but I'd expect that their pricing would be reasonable for anyone requiring a turnkey project. I elected to use my knowledge, skills and time to build more sweat equity into my home, using Noriega to effectively fill in an important void."

"Never had to hire a company like this before or get work done around the house i’m usually a do it myself type of guy but this was too big of a job for one person. I thought it would be more complicated to hire but they made it as easy as a simple call and a in person meeting we got everything covered from what i wanted and what i was willing to spend on the job. "Craig was our salesperson he was great but needs to always bring a calculator. We were going to use the tiles they have in stock and add specialty for the steps but when we got to the tile place he referred we found the perfect tile to go around the whole pool. I asked if he would discount since we would provide our own tiles and he was fine with it. Our only issue with that is the person they send to collect the check did not have the paperwork with him and I told him the amount should have a 170. discount and he said to pay the full amount and the office would take care of any difference right away. I have been waiting 4 weeks and each time I call the offce either Margie or Kim said they forgot to call the main office in CA to request the check to be sent. The deck around the pool was left a little messy and has plaster and chalking on the new cool deck we just had done. Note to always have the pool done first then decking but that was done by another company a few months earlier. The process it self was really painless they were in and out so fast we couldnt believe it was already done. The pool looks beautiful and we couldnt be happier. We did a lot of shopping around and they did have the best price and Craig was very honest and upfront about everything. I think he is a good sales person no high pressure we actually had him first look at the pool in Jan and we finally decided to go ahead late March. Yes we have and will refer the company. The check reimbursement is an annoyance but Im sure Craig will take care of it. I also want to say as far as the pool resurfacing all A's across the board the lower scores for professionalism and responsiveness is due to having to chase the overpayment.

"I purchased the granite counter top deal from Angie's List big deal offers. I spoke with Damon at Vegas Remodel about how to go about seeing our different granite choices. He was friendly and informative via phone letting me know that we had about a $400 budget for the stone and gave me the information for a local showroom to go see our choices. The rough measurements I did for our kitchen put us at about 48 sf, close to the 50 sf max included in the offer. After going to look at stone, I found that there were only between 1 and 3 choices (depending on the number of slabs needed when they came to do an official measurement) that would fall within the budget Damon had indicated. This was much different than the 9 stone choices mentioned in the deal fine print. I followed up a few days later to confirm that I had indeed understood Damon about the budget. He again answered my call immediately and was responsive and friendly with my questions but did say, that yes, if we went over the $400 budget that we would need to cover the difference in cost which would have been somewhere in the range of an additional $200-$1200 for materials. This was more than we had anticipated when we purchased the deal and I have now requested a refund. I'm not sure whether the details of the deal were set by Vegas Remodel or by Angie's List, but at any rate it was misleading and we didn't really have the options and flexibility that we thought we would have when we purchased the deal."
