"We recently contacted Mitchell to replace cellar propane piping, plus install 2 outside faucets in our home. Hersponded quickly and setup a time to inspect the worksite. His visit was prompt and as scheduled. He explained our options, than quoted a range of potential costs which he matched exactly when the work was completed. Mitchell is very personable, and clearly answered any questions that came up as the work progressed. The job was completed quickly, and it is obvious he is a skilled, knowledgeable, hard worker. We'll be calling Mitchell for any plumbing work in the future, and will be sure to spread the word among our friends and neighbors Thanks so much, Mitchell Tom and Suki Wright...Contoocook, NH"

"Exchanged messages with Mike to describe work needed, replace an outdoor faucet and shutoff value (previous faucet was leaking). He gave an estimate, reviewed work to be done. Replaced outdoor spigot with a frost-proof spigot, put on new value. Quick test and validation. Professional, efficient and happy with work done! Thank you Mike !"

"They replaced a pipe for me in my basement. They came when they said they would, charged what they said they would, and finished up in the time he said he would. I'm very happy with them and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. The one down fall is the shiny new copper pipe is so pretty, it's a shame it has to be in the basement where no one can see it !"

"I ve had Justin come over for three projects so far, and for all three he has done an incredible job at a reasonable price. Also very knowledgeable and personable. The three projects were: - install gas line for stove - fix hot water issue - unclog bathtub I would highly recommend him to anyone! His prices are better than those around for doing similar work (we paid a little over half what the other quotes were for our gas line)."

"The gentleman showed up on time and used a high pressure canister tool to force the crud from the drain. This wasn't the $40 tool you'd find on Amazon, but the plumber's professional version of it. He applied two treatments and thus far the drain has worked the best since we got the house 10 years ago. Part of the problem with a bathtub drain is that it can be a nightmare to auger - I have an auger and couldn't get it to make all the twists to get to the pipe. Note that you will be required to sign a waiver that relieves him of any responsibility if the pipes burst from the air pressure involved. This is not unreasonable, and I've seen plumbers wreck drains without telling people ahead of time it could happen. If the pipe's old, and that weak, a heavy auger could wreck it as well. He'll be the first person I call if I have another drain problem."

"Scope of work to be done:
*  Start, clean and inspect a gas fireplace that hasn't been used for a little over a year.
*  Give recommendation on why "Low" heat doesn't work.

The company listing on the List says "Ask for Details" on price estimates.  However, while she is very professional and pleasant, the girl answering the phone and making appointments will not volunteer pricing, and is very hesitant when asked about it.  She hems and haws - not a good sign.  I asked because some reviews on the List indicate many were related to a "Deal" price, but not all of them, and the same price seemed to span several years.
I was finally able to learn that the 'deal' I was seeing was a coupon that is issued annually but is currently not active.  That cost was gas fireplace clean and inspection and a plumbing inspection for $99, which usually costs $275.  The person I spoke with said the rate is flat, even if I don't need or want a plumbing inspection and only want the fireplace cleaned & inspected.  Further, 'Inspection' of the fireplace doesn't include finding out what is wrong with the high > low dial.  That would cost me another $117 on top of $275.  So now we're up to almost $400 for a service many offer for $100 - $150, and on top of that I would then be quoted a cost to repair whatever problem they find.
All that said, the girl also stated she couldn't be sure about the pricing, and refused to let me speak to anyone about actual cost of services and wouldn't have anyone call me back about it when they were free either, even though she took my number.
This smacks of predatory pricing to me.  This company has a great reputation and from the prices I see on the reviews I have a hard time believing what I was told.  It can't be so unusual for a customer to want an up-front idea of what they may be expected to pay so they can budget accordingly, I don't see why that's such a problem.  I also don't see why people would be charged for a service they aren't going to get, when it's not a part of a "Deal" or "Coupon".
I need a good technician who can actually troubleshoot our problem, as a part of an Inspection - which is what an inspection should actually be - I am even willing to pay a bit more for that, but more than 2X the average market rate?  No.  That's just silly.  I have kept the appointment I made for now, but I am going to keep searching for someone else and I hope to be able to cancel this appointment in favor of a more reasonable one."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Bow, NH

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
