"Easy process from quote to work complete. The crew worked on a few small projects -- fixed a damaged wall, repaired flooring, and installed a new toilet."

"This is the third time I have used this Angie's List Deal with Alliance Home Improvement. I continue to be satisfied with their work and will use them again. They have been consistently prompt, efficient, responsive to requests, and conscientious about full clean-up after the windows were installed. The only slightly non-professional (but amazingly trusting) aspect was that I was not presented with or sent a bill, but instead was just informed by the workers who installed the windows that, "if I wanted," I could pay by going online (which I did). I have also been pleased with the windows themselves, which seem of good quality and easy to open and clean."

"Just OK. After they left we had a lot of flies in the house. We would kill 25-30 a day. They need to find a better way than to just open our house open for such a long tome. They also broke our blinds in one of our bedrooms and did not fix it or even tell us about it. We found out after they were gone."

"TJ did an excellent job doing some repairs in my house. He repaired some bathroom tub spouts and an interior garage door. He worked very hard on the spouts as they seemed to be cemented in. A lot of chiseling was required and took much longer than expected. Finished work was great. He repaired the garage with ease even though other contractors said the whole frame would have to be replaced. Kudos to TJ. Really enjoyed talking with him and will use him in the future for more home projects"

"I was very pleased with the help I received from Scott Destromp. He went over all the choices for my new shower. He took time to explain everything to me and made sure I was happy with my choices. Scott stayed in contact with me throughout the whole process and made sure the bathroom shower was done to my satisfaction."

"To say Kurt and Melissa did a fantastic job would be an understatement! We did a lot of research prior to picking a contractor to build our back deck and thanks to a recommendation from a friend, meeting Kurt and Melissa was the best thing that could have happened! The three most important factors to us were quality construction, fair price, and trustworthy craftspeople on site. I stay at home with my daughter and it was extremely important to have people we could count on and trust if they were going to be in and out of the house - we couldn't have found a better fit!
Not only did Hoffman Restoration meet and exceed all of the 'must haves' on our list - the deck they designed and built is absolutely stunning. I refer to it as my 'pinterest deck' since it is pretty enough to pin or be in a magazine! If you are looking for 1990s style or lattice you'll need to look elsewhere because Kurt and Melissa specialize in the aesthetically pleasing :-)
Hoffman Restoration will literally be the first call we make in any future home improvements or projects - do yourself a favor, save a lot of time and headaches, and start with Kurt & Melissa. They will have you doing a happy dance on your new porch or deck in no time!

FAQs for blinds or shades repair projects in Bristol, CT

If you're wondering whether repairing your blinds is worth it, consider the quality and age of your blinds. For high-end or custom blinds, repairing them can preserve their quality, functionality, and design, making repair a smart choice. Immediate repairs maintain the original look and performance. However, if your blinds are over six years old, extensively damaged, or of lower quality, replacing them might be more cost-effective, as new blinds offer better efficiency and modern technology. Weigh the repair costs against the benefits of replacement to make the best decision for your situation.

When damage undermines the integrity and appearance of your blinds, replacement becomes the clear option. You should replace your blinds when damage to slats or fabric prevents you from obtaining an exact match, thereby compromising appearance and function. Severe damage increases repair complexity and expense. Replacing blinds not only restores superior performance but also creates an opportunity for aesthetic upgrades and lasting benefits.

You should plan to replace your blinds at least every 10 years, with clear signs of wear, such as discoloration, deterioration, or functional issues, emerging by five years. Regular evaluation of style, quality, and performance supports an informed decision. While minor repairs may temporarily extend usability, a complete replacement secures optimal operation and updated design.

Establish a regular maintenance routine to keep your blinds looking and functioning their best. Clean them regularly with mild, specialized products and follow the manufacturer's recommended usage guidelines. UV-blocking window film can protect against fading and warping from sun exposure. Regular inspections and proactive maintenance will preserve their appearance and performance, extending their overall lifespan.

If you pull the blind string and it does not move, it indicates a malfunction in the mechanism, such as a broken cord, a jammed cord lock, or a stuck component. Inspect the string for breaks and examine the headrail for any obstructions. Replace the defective cord or cord lock as necessary to restore proper operation and maintain functionality.

Yes, you can replace your blind string yourself by using a replacement kit available at home improvement stores. Accurate measurement of the string diameter is essential for a perfect fit. Gather the necessary tools and follow the manufacturer’s instructions rigorously to secure a safe, lasting fix. If the task demands more time than anticipated, hiring a professional is advisable to avoid further damage.
