"They called me promptly, and offered a prompt appointment. Once at my house they found the job more difficult than anticipated due to the age of the system but were able to rebuild the system and I'm very happy with the their promptness in resolving my garage door problems."

"Great service. Friendly, reliable. Hired him to repair daughters garage door and planning on hiring again to replace my door and opener. Watching him work, you could tell he knew what he was doing. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend them for your door and opener repairs."

"It has been a pleasure having Ryan P. install my jack shaft garage door opener. He is very fast, professional, courteous, and fun to work with. He made sure everything is properly installed, went above and beyond in getting my garage to be in a perfect condition before leaving. The pricing is very fair too, unlike many out there that were trying to rip me off. Would definitely recommend working with Ryan P, simply the best. I had some issues however with scheduling my appointment but they offered 10% to make up for the confusions which is incredible to see these days. That is another plus."

"Very well! My claim was submitted and within hours a technician responded and set up an assessment of the problem for the next day. Technician came out on a Saturday assessed the garage door opener, gave the information immediately to CHW, and within hours again, CHW confirmed that the technician could go ahead with his assessment. We then scheduled the replacement for Monday, where he arrived on time and got the job done effectively and efficiently."

"Mike promptly returned my voice mail regarding a leak coming from our Attic access.  He & his crew were very professional & explained exactly what they needed to do prior to preforming the work.  He also took time out of his schedule to review a couple of other jobs we were going to need done in the future.  Mike is very reasonably priced, despite him being honest about not being the cheapest rate around.  He always is with his crew.  He is easy to get along with.  We have hired him again for leaking gutters and have plans to have him replace our roof in the future as well.  If you're looking for an honest man who may not be the cheapest rate around, but he'll get the job done right the first time - this is your guy.  Just remember, you get the quality you pay for!

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

FAQs for garage door opener installation and replacement projects in Buffalo, IA

A chain-drive opener costs less, but it’s louder and needs more upkeep. If your budget allows, a belt-drive model is often the smarter long-term buy, especially for an attached garage with a bedroom above where noise matters. The decision between a chain or belt opener comes down to your budget and needs, and your garage door opener installer can help you choose an option that best suits you.

Choosing the right horsepower for your garage door opener is crucial for safe and efficient performance. Your garage door’s design and material determine the required horsepower. A single-car garage demands a half horsepower rating, while a two-car garage requires a rating between three-fourths and 1.25 horsepower. Selecting the proper power level ensures optimum performance and durability over the life of the opener.

Plan on a quick garage door tune-up once or twice a year. Tighten the chain or belt, lubricate moving parts, test the safety sensors, and swap out weak batteries in the remotes or backup unit. A few dollars in lubricant and 30 minutes of work can fend off costly repairs, keep the door running smoothly, and help the opener hit its full life expectancy.
