"This contractor did a very good job for us. He was professional and very detail oriented and his work is awesome. We are very happy with the work that Sabino did at our house. We replaced every window in our house and it was completed in a timely fashion. We have work in the future that he will receive because we know his price will be fair and the work will be great again for us! Thanks Sabino, you are a hard worker."

Small jobs welcome

"So glad we found him, his workmanship is superior. We can't anything negative about him, he communicates well, timely, courteous and has excellent attention to detail. We would definitely hire him again and would strongly encourage others to give a call as well. His prices are fair. He did our plaster walls, carpentry and glass tile work. If 10 stars were available in the rating, we would gladly give him that rating. A true professional!"

I’ve worked in commercial carpentry for 3 years with the union. Decided to switch to remodeling and worked for a company called Cortese Construction for the last 3 years. There I learned how to renovate both large and small kitchen and bathrooms. I can set cabinets, install LVP flooring, tile, hang and finish drywall, paint, install windows and doors, trim, and framing. I can work in the Erie and Niagara county areas.

"The staircase in our home had separated from the wall and the support under the stairs had been compromised. Jim was able to not only provide updated support to the staircase, he was also able to reposition the stairs to their original position. The stairs are now even more secure, while still looking completely original to the house. In addition, he repaired a broken railing.
All this work, which included having to go through a plaster wall, was cleaned up perfectly. I was extremley happy with the results and will definitely be using Jim again in the future.

"Excellent from the courteous customer service, the rapid response to the request for a painter, keeping in touch while I waited to close on my house and get the keys, their work ethic, the job was done quickly as they worked long hours to get it done before the movers bring my furniture on Wednesday. Oh…and it looks great."

"Jim took great care to protect the wooden floors ,and walls prior to beginning the plasterwork in our dining room. All the walls were covered and furniture were covered with a plastic drop cloths as protection from any falling plaster dust or debris. His painting was clean and neat. Our dining room ceiling looks like new.
The bathroon tile job required removing loose tiles ,cleaning old grout off the tile backs , repairing the wall then reinstalling the tiles on he wall and regrouting. Jim took great care in removing all the necessary tiles without damage to any tile. He even numbered the tiles so he would re-install them in the proper location on the wall. After his regrouting it was impossible to tell which tiles had been removed from the wall. We were more than delighted with the results of this job.
We would recommend Jim Heller for tile and plaster work. He was prompt in arriving ,kept us informed as to the process of each repair and cleaned up after each day's work.

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Buffalo, NY

Professional contractors complete basement framing in three to five days, depending on the size and complexity of your space. Projects with simple, open layouts progress faster than those with multiple rooms and corners. DIY framers should expect the job to take significantly longer, potentially seven to 10 days or more, depending on experience level and available time. The timeline doesn't include other aspects of basement finishing like drywall installation, electrical work, or finishing touches, which extend the overall renovation schedule.

Most municipalities require building permits for basement framing projects. These permits cost between $1,200 and $2,000, ensuring your renovation meets local building codes for safety and structural integrity. Working without proper permits can result in penalties, forced removal of completed work, and complications when selling your home. Your local building department can provide specific information about permit requirements, inspection schedules, and any special considerations for basement renovations in your area.

For basement framing, use pressure-treated lumber for bottom plates (the horizontal boards that contact concrete floors) to prevent moisture damage and rot. Standard kiln-dried lumber is suitable for wall studs and top plates that don't directly contact concrete surfaces. The most common lumber dimension for basement wall framing is two-by-four, though some situations may call for two-by-six lumber to accommodate thicker insulation. Always check local building codes, as some jurisdictions have specific requirements for basement framing materials.

You can install drywall after framing is complete and inspected, but several important steps should happen first. Ensure any electrical, plumbing, or HVAC rough-ins are completed and inspected before closing up walls. Installing insulation between studs is highly recommended for temperature control and moisture management. Drywall installation adds an average of $3 to $4 per linear foot to your project, with painting costing an additional $2 to $6 per square foot. Address any moisture concerns before enclosing walls to prevent future damage and mold issues.
