"Called Eric, he called back within a couple of hours. Came over to my house that evening with a new hot water heater per my requested specs.. Got it installed in about 2 hours. He also rerouted my gas pipes to the new hot water heater to meet code. He also explained what he was doing and answered all my questions. I will call Gans Plumbing for any future plumbing needs."

"Jay was very responsive. I actually had several smaller projects including installation of a new ceiling fan, toilet repair, pipes underneath the sink etc. He explained everything that needed repair every step of the way. I appreciated the upfront estimate provided so I knew what to expect. No surprises! Also,, the fact that he is a licensed plumber & electrician was a plus."

This gentleman went above and beyond and out of his way to help me a stranger. We should honor this kind man and support his local Wisconsin business. "Since the service had been finished I inquired with another contractor for a second opinion on what I paid for this toilet installation. He says that I paid way too much.

I acted like a new customer and called The American Plumber to inquire about the cost of installing a toilet. He mentioned that he charges a $125 fee to file the paperwork for the permit, plus the fee for the permit itself of $55. He said the whole installation cost would be $325, but ended up charging $395, plus another service fee of $49. He ended up giving a discount b/c my I was an Angie's List member, but the overall cost was much too high. He did not give me any prices when I called to inquire about service originally. I am very upset with the overall experience and I don't even know if a permit was bought in the first place. I will be calling to check into the status of the permit."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Butler, WI

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
