"Chris, my tech, was very knowledgeable, respectful and professional. Unfortunately it took a little longer for him to procure the part......but he (Aire Serv) diligently, relentlessly tracked down the needed motor, and then Chris installed it as expeditiously as possible."

"Chris' reputation for being trustworthy and honest makes him my #1 guy for air conditioning repairs. Over the years, his philosophy of doing everything he can to repair the unit (as opposed to other companies that are money hungry and assert that replacement is the only option) is the reason I seek out his opinion first whenever I have an air conditioning problem. He had to cancel on me on the originally scheduled afternoon appointment due to a longer than expected job he was doing. But I respect his reputation so much that I am willing to overlook this situation and simply wait the next morning when he was able to make it to my house. His expertise is extremely valuable to me even if I have to wait a little longer for him to stop by. What is important to me is that he gives a knowledgeable and honest diagnosis. In this case, my a/c unit was making a lot of unpleasant screeching and grinding noises. It almost sounded like metal rubbing on metal. So I turned off the a/c until Chris arrived. He was confidant that a replacement of the fan motor would fix the problem and prevent future problems. He was correct. I have not had any noises since getting the new fan motor and everything is fine. One thing that concerns me though is that with this particular Century brand fan motor, Chris' final installation resulted in the need to have two separate wires that protruded out the top grill and then back into the motor (see photo). They are safely away from the spinning fan, but I have never seen this before. It is a little concerning due to future exposure of the wires to extreme summer heat and the possibility that birds or rodents might be attracted to chew on them. I do have a one year warranty for the work. I just hope these exposed wires will stand up to the outdoor elements."

"Sooo....first, Jim is a very nice guy.  However, Jim now works in Nashville during the week and is only home to the Huntsville area on the weekends.
My first impression of him was that he was awesome.  My computer system had crashed because I pulled the plug during a thunder storm before the computer fully shut down which resulted in the computer hanging up.  Jim took my call while in Tennessee and suggested how to fix the system.  For this I am very grateful.

What happened next was I had him come and check my computer to make sure everything was working properly.  He came to my house and spent an hour tweaking it (basically running various checks on the system), for which I paid him $50.  He suggested that my laptop would work much better if I had Windows 7 and increased my RAM up to 4 GB.  He said he could install it for me for (including the RAM) for about $160.  We met the following weekend for the handoff and he loaded Window 7.  When I received the call it was ready, the bill was $227.50.  I was surprised that is was $70 more than quoted, but paid it anyways.  When I asked about the RAM, he mentioned he did not upgrade the RAM and this would be another $60.  I was a little discouraged at that point since I felt like I was being taken advantage of, but the guy is relatively nice, so I said to go ahead and order the RAM.  He did so and the following weekend was supposed to install it.  Due to some personal things in his life, he wasn't able to install it, so I picked it up since I had to go out of town and could use the IT guy at my new location to install it for me.  When we went to install the RAM, the system wouldn't let us do it since my particular type of laptop can only take 2GB of RAM max.  If Jim had gone to the crucial.com website (where he bought my RAM) and entered my computer system on it, it would have told him the max amount of RAM that could be installed on that unit.  He did not do that.  He is supposed to refund my $60 this next weekend.

I think if Jim wasn't burning the candle at both ends by having a job in Tennessee during the week and trying to run this business on the weekends, it would've been a better experience.  Perhaps taking a few extra minutes to SLOW DOWN and write out an estimate of everything he would need for the job including the prices would ensure people know up front how much the repair would/should cost so they can budget accordingly.  I think if he had taken that approach, it might've been a better experience.  So now I am stuck with a laptop that runs slower because Windows 7 uses more memory and a laptop that can't be upgraded to more RAM.  Basically, the last step which cost me almost $300 was not necessary.  If you need something simple done like coming back from a system crash, he would be okay to use.  Otherwise, for the bigger jobs, I recommend he provide a written estimate with the items he plans to do.

UPDATE:  After posting this review, I received a number of text messages from Jim commenting on the bad review.  I understand he is upset, but harassing someone about a review is not a good way to go.  My review was honest and not meant to be mean, but to let those that use Angie's list get what they pay for...an honest review of someone's experience."

"The service technician, Randy, arrived right within the scheduled window of 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
During the time that he was here Randy proved to be a very professional, knowledgeable and friendly person to talk to, not just about the HVAC issues at hand.
The general impression that Randy made during the service call was that Bishop Air Service is primarily interested in properly maintaining and/or repairing the HVAC equipment that you presently own, if possible. He himself owns an HVAC unit that is still functioning after 30 years of use!
With other companies (such as "One Hour Air" with their yearly advertisements in the Las Vegas Review-Journal), I have often felt that they are actually more interested in prematurely selling you new equipment, especially when one or more components of your HVAC system has reached and or exceeded the 10-20 year mark.
Randy cleaned and didn't immediately replace our only slightly corroded flame sensor.
During the heating system inspection, it was determined that the capacitor for our system blower was no longer functioning properly and replacing it at a cost of $133.00 ($140.00 less 5% Angie's List coupon) proved to be the only repair that we ended up needing.
Overall, this was a very pleasant, informative and even enjoyable HVAC furnace inspection and I will certainly be contacting Bishop Air Service in the future if any unexpected problems arise as well as to have our AC checked in 2014.
In the meantime - if possible - clone Randy, you could use more of him."

"John came out and first replaced my fuse. That did not fix the problem, as the motor had totally locked up. He then gave me a price for replacing the motor or the whole A/C unit. I decided to replace the whole unit, since it was 18 years old. Since, it was late in the day, he said he would be back out in the morning to replace the unit. Before leaving he disconnected the old unit, and set up for the recycler to come out and get the unit. He came out the next morning and replaced the unit. By the time the new unit was installed, the old unit had been picked up."

"Although he did not respond to my message through the Angie's List message, he responded immediately when I called his cell phone. His voicemail box was full be he called me back immediately. He was on time and did the project in the time frame he quoted. He explained fully why it was installed the way it was and what I needed to to do to change anything I needed to."

"I'm glad I consulted Angie's list before hiring a handyman.  Tim was the highest rated handyman on here and he deserves every bit of his rating.  He made two trips to our house.  On the first, he fixed a door that was sticking; our back door.  I had also wanted him to fix the front doors (metal) that were sticking too.  However, that was not really possible because we had some cracks in the door jamb that I had not noticed.  He showed me and explained that he needed to replace the doors, casing and trim.  I also asked him to put down new thresholds for the front and back doors.  He called his door supplier and gave me an estimate that day and put me on the schedule for 12/27.  He's a very busy guy (because he's so good), so scheduling is a bit far out.  It was worth the wait.
On the day he was scheduled to work, Tim and his associate showed up 15 minutes early.  They were very kind and courteous.  We didn't even talk about what to do with the old doors, so I just thought I would wait and see what happened.  They demoed out the old front doors and hauled them off (put them in the trailer while they finished the job).  Then they installed the new front doors which we had ordered.  They are fiberglass and very nice.  Much quieter.  Tim installed the new hardware we had purchased, the peep hole, which the door company had forgotten to drill and the new thresholds, both front and back.  He even let me pick out the trim for the new front doors. I went with his suggestion between the different styles and it looks AMAZING!  They did a SUPER job cleaning up.  No construction debris anywhere, the only dust I found was on the door, but I'm guessing he didn't want to attack that with a Shop-Vac because it would have marked it.  No biggie, I wiped it off with a cloth.  If Angie's List had an A+, Tim would get one.
I have flipped over 30 houses in my former life in Kansas.  I never had a tradesman or handyman with Tim's skill level or depth of knowledge.  He would have made my life a lot easier in the old days.  We will hire him again next time we need something.  Just thinking I have a couple of stuck windows he could fix...
Tim's Handyman Service, in Henderson, is the BEST!  You can't go wrong with them.  Don't hesitate.  Call them first.
