"Paul and his assistant were prompt, and professional.  They were attentive to all the details of the job and discussed options with me.  Paul is a master at plaster work and the ceiling was beautifully repaired.  Josh is a meticulous painter.  I appreciated their prompt and courteous manner.  They also were committed to being clean and left everything in great shape when they left.  I hired them for additional work including wall paper removal and kitchen painting, which was a tedious and messy job, but again done very well and within one day.   They went above and beyond repainting some trim areas and doors not originally scoped. I appreciated that respect for the quality of the total job.  We will be hiring them again for more painting work next month.

"i hired Stu after having him provide an estimate to repair my chimney which had cracks causing water damage to the siding. He took down the top few feet of the chimney and rebuilt the crown and recommended replacing the entire outside of the chimney with cultured stone, which I did. The chimney looks beautiful, the job he did was excellent and his work ethic was unparalleled. He also ended up having to replace the siding on that side of the house, which was also done beautifully. I was very impressed with the finished product and would definitely recommend him. He was also a very friendly and a very nice person and I believe honest as well. Thank you, Stu"

"The workmen showed up on time and were very professional and did excellent work. My only issue was how long it took to get the work scheduled, despite that I would use JEC again and would certainly recommend them."

"Hunter and his crew delivered! He communicated with me every step of the way, was honest, and takes real pride in his work. The biggest thing for me when working with a contractor is following through on what they say they’re going to do and that’s exactly what he did. His workers were respectful and cared about the task at hand as much as he did. I’ll definitely be using/recommending him for any future work I or family and friends need done."

"I was extremely stressed out because the tree roots were causing damage to the sidewalk and my driveway. The roots of the tree started lifting the sidewalk and causing it to be unlevel So of course, I had to get the tree removed. The tree was fairly close to the house. I would say 10 to 15 feet and it was a fairly large tree So naturally, I was worried that tree would fall on my house. David assured me that nothing like that would happen on his watch. Dave and his crew were very friendly, respectful and professional. They were able to remove the tree in several hours. He cleaned the entire yard so well that people walking by couldn’t even tell that a tree was cut down just several hours before. He even went the extra mile to come back the following day to grind down the stump and then filled in the hole with topsoil. I am very pleased with his work and highly recommend him to everyone looking for an honest, reliable and fair company."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: repair or partially replace projects in Canandaigua, NY

Stone veneer isn’t a weekend DIY. Even lightweight faux panels are heavy and must be anchored, flashed, and sealed to keep water out. Missteps can lead to cracked stone, leaks, or injuries. A licensed siding contractor arrives with scaffolding, masonry tools, and the know-how to set each piece safely and neatly, giving you a long-lasting, professional finish.

Stone veneer durability is robust when expert installation and proper maintenance are employed. When installed with precision, regularly cleaned, and sealed as required, stone veneer maintains its integrity for 25 to 75 years. Inadequate installation, however, leads to water intrusion and structural issues that compromise its longevity. Consistent upkeep and adherence to quality installation standards ensure decades of reliable performance.

Covering the entire exterior of a home with stone veneer is feasible but comes with a significant cost increase. Full coverage escalates both material and labor expenses due to the additional square footage required. Many homeowners reduce costs by applying stone veneer selectively—such as around entries, foundations, or architectural accents—while still achieving an upscale appearance and enhancing overall curb appeal.

Installing stone veneer over brick or stucco is entirely possible when the underlying surface is stable and properly prepared. The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of any loose material to support a secure application. Additionally, any areas of flaking stucco or deteriorated mortar must be patched and allowed to cure fully before a professional applies the new veneer, ensuring lasting durability.

Stone veneer siding offers a substantial cost advantage compared to full-thickness natural stone. It costs 25% of the price of natural stone because it is manufactured from concrete and lightweight aggregates. This method delivers the genuine appearance of stone while featuring a thinner profile that simplifies shipping, accelerates installation, and consistently reduces material expenses.

For a 250 square foot exterior area, stone siding installation costs range from $9,800 to $18,000, while installing stone veneer costs between $5,000 and $6,000. This clear cost breakdown demonstrates the significant savings achieved with stone veneer, which uses a lighter construction method that minimizes both material and labor expenses. Homeowners benefit from these lower costs while still attaining the attractive look of natural stone.
