"Marc Matesich was asked to install 3 ceiling fans, install railings at 2 different sets of steps, and resolve the mold problem with the bathroom shower stall. I was very impressed by his expertise in all three areas of work. There was a problem that revealed itself after work begun but he adjusted quickly to find the solution and implement the work. Marc was professional, demonstrated a great work ethic, was punctual, and communicated frequently. The quality of work was superb. I highly recommend using Matesich’s Quality works. I am so glad I did!"

SABINO ELECTRIC

"We checked Angie's list for referrals. We called several businesses that provided weekend/emergency services. Instead of leaving a message on a answering machine or voice mail, Mr. Sabino answered the call. He was able to come to the house within a short period of time. He thoroughly and methodically checked the service coming into the house and the electric box within the house. He determined that the problem was with the electric supplier (PPand L). We were impressed with his service, professionalism and promptness. Because we were planning to have some electrical work done in the very near future, we asked Mr. Sabino if he would come back and give us an estimate for this work. He offered, during this service call, to evaluate the needed work and provide the written estimate the following day. Mr. Sabino did deliver the estimate the following day. The estimate was very reasonable. We had put off this work previously due to, what we considered to be an extremely high estimate from another electrician, not being in the position to afford the previous estimate. We plan on following through with this work within the next month and having Sabino's do the work. We also recommended this electrician to a neighbor. <br />"

"I took my mower to the store and was immediately asked what the problem was. Within minutes, the man who does repairs was attending to the problem. As he worked, he reviewed with me what he was doing, how he was going to fix it, and asked questions pertinent to what he was doing. In all, I was at the shop about 45 minutes. I took the mower home and finished mowing my lawn this afternoon. My mower works beautifully. What a rarity . . . to find such excellent, hands-on workmanship along with an explanation of the problem and how it was fixed!!!"

"We had a small job to fix our swing set. The work was done well but MAKE SURE YOU ASK how many people will be doing the work because what we assumed was a ‘one person job’ ended up as ‘two people’ so the rate was doubled making this cost more than we anticipated. **Would only hire again if work was explicitly written in detail and agreed upon upfront."

"I asked Chris to several different projects. He always gave a courtesy call to let me know he was on his way. I did not have to waste any time sitting around for a repairman to come within a window of time. Chris tells you when he is coming and within ten minutes of the time he is there. He always discussed with me what he was going to do to make sure we were both on the same page. He suggests alternatives to improve and/or save money, but always does what the client wants. The work is of the highest quality and most importantly my wife was happy with the results.  Many groups charge two-three hours of work just to get there. So if the project takes only an hour you pay for two or three hours. Not with Chris he only charges for the hours he works. <br />"

"I didn't dislike Lancaster Contracting. The guy was very good. I just felt more comfortable with the other company that I chose. He didn't give me a price on changing the sky lights because we were talking about the roof. We didn't get to that point."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Carlisle, PA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
