"Project of demo old deck and build a new to the same plan did not get started until late November. There were periodic weeks during the winter that did not allow for any work. The company owner/manager(Ivan) kept us informed of the status. The quality of workmanship was very good and followed the city inspection. Project that was over 15K came in at the bid price."

"I usually do not write reviews, especially if they are not good reviews. However, I was not pleased with the work from Outdoor solutions and think it is important to pass this information on to the next customer. The work we had done was several years ago at our old home. We had this company build a large deck, remove tree stumps and do landscaping of the back yard around an existing pool. They also replaced a window with sliding glass doors. Total project cost was roughly $25,000. The work was fair, and not expert. The family owned company, run by the father was difficult to work with. The quote and first interview with Jim was good enough to hire him, but the work done by him and his family/employees was only fair. It was hard to watch and listen to Jim talk and yell at his employees. He also seemed to pull on our heart strings by telling us about his cancer struggles, saying his life expectancy was short, yet I am not certain this was true. The work itself, as I said, was fair. The smaller details of the deck construction (not visible on most photos) was not high quality. Working with Jim was uncomfortable after we hired him. I often felt we could not ask for what we wanted and that we "owed" him something. This is not how a customer should feel. Overall, the feeling left with us after the project was finished was one of relief that we did not have to deal with him or his company anymore. Often, looking back at experiences, this is what sticks with us. I remember specific issues with the work involving us stopping him from doing shotty electrical work without a permit for that work (I did the electrical work with a permit myself). After showing my spouse what I have written so far, we are mostly in agreement about this review. She added that they got an "F" grade for when they found and removed drain tile from around our pool which lead to rework of that area by a different contractor due to flooding issues. She also stated that we felt manipulated by Jim's personality. In addition I will add that the work itself was rated as a "B-" to "C". Dealing with Jim and his personality was a negative for us and we realize our experience with his personality will not be everyone's experience. If you hire him, I hope this helps you know what you are in for. I am sorry to feel I need to pass this information on to others in the hope of helping someone else out in their search for a good contractor. I also hope that Jim learns from past mistakes and gets better in his customer service and care."

"Our old deck was old and needed replacement. We contacted several contractors to get bids on replacing the deck. We were planning on the same deck footprint, but using new maintenance free composite materials. When Steffan Madsen, owner of Two Teachers, came to our house he looked at our deck (second floor deck against a hill with a staircase to ground level) and made suggestions on how we could improve the footprint, construction, and function of the deck. I had not thought about other design possibilities, but Steffan's plan was far superior to what we had been planning and what the other contractors had been bidding on. It fit much better on the hill. The plan took into account our retaining wall, sidewalk, windows and doors. The plan was genius! During his first visit, Steffan gave us a bid, drew us a floor plan, showed us composite material and rail samples, and answered our questions. We were impressed with his knowledge and experience. While the Two Teachers bid was not the least expensive bid we got, we choose them for our job. When our turn came up on their schedule, they showed up and removed the old deck. The new deck was built in a few days, and the extra dirt and building materials were all carried away. Steffan was here during construction to make sure everything went well. His crew were well trained, polite, and worked outside in pretty hot conditions. Steffan has a background as a shop teacher and knows how to build high quality things and how to teach others how to build things. This really shows in the finished product. We love our deck. We are very happy with how sturdy and beautiful it is. It fits perfectly on our hill without need to alter the retaining wall. We recommend Two Teachers and Steffan Madsen without reservation. If you want a deck that you are going to love, give Steffan a call."

"Northrup is truly a wonderful company. Bob Nentl communicated with us throughout the project and the carpentry was beautifully done, so the porch/sunroom looks like it was original to our 1913 home. Top-notch professionals, and we'd rehire them for any home improvement project."

"The siding crew did a fantastic job on my house! My siding was completed during the winter holidays which was cold! The first step was a quick meeting with the project lead to walk around and communicate the details or last min logistics. Highly recommend this step for communication and to get to know the project lead and crew. The job took 3 days which I thought was pretty quick. During the process I was communicated with by the office lead Joni with any delays because of weather. Joni was quick to answer any questions by email. The onsite crew was very professional, courteous, efficient and productive. They did a great job making sure the debris was cleaned up and their equipment was organized, safe and with no trip hazards. When they uncovered some walls that needed additional building out, Pat communicated with me on the details, cost and importance of the repair. The best part is one of the crew shoveled my sidewalk and Pat added an additional piece to my down spout! Happy New Year! Thank you, my house looks beautiful!"

"It went great! It took about a day and a half to get them installed. Our house is small but the upper floor's roofline is very high off the ground; the installer had to go up on an extended ladder to reach it, but the gutters are flush against the building all around. I would definitely recommend Lindus Construction."

"We hired Eric to remodel our 90+ kitchen. He gutted it almost completely, rebuilt the floor, back stairs, and parts of the walls, put in new arches to match the original nook arches, added a "mud nook," installed cabinets, tiled, painted, added crown molding, and built base board that echoed the original int he front of the house, and served as gen contractors for all the subs. He also finished the ceiling in the basement and painted all. The final product is beautiful. It wasn't an easy job either. Our old house provided plenty of challenges, but Eric was a good communicator, explaining the problems and working together to figure out how best to address them. He did a beautiful job on the arches, and dealing with a challenging, wonky ceiling that needed extensive work to level out, and the nook with great looking wood work and careful attention to detail. The overall project took longer than planned do to some unforeseen challenges with the house, and changes we wanted to make along the way, but he was always responsive and helpful. As general contractor there were a few issues, particularly with the stove, that weren't clearly understood or defined, but his subs helped worked through them and all turned out well. I think that's the theme of Eric's work - he was there to make sure the problems were addressed directly and the work done completely and well. I appreciate his persistence, his guidance, and his ideas on improving on our vision. We now have a well organized, beautiful kitchen that's getting a ton of use!"

"Of the four or five other groups we had come out, they were the most professional and quicker and easier to work with. We actually had them bid it twice. Last year was too late for them to do anything because there was winter coming on and then we did it in the middle of May. I decided to use them because they were willing to work with us and also because of the price, also because of the quality and the fact that they were licensed. Some people who came out told us they were licensed when they actually were not. When they came out, they took all the information and listened to what we had to say. They helped us with the designs that wouldn't have worked for us and they got us the maximum size and then all along they've let us know when they are going to start and throughout the whole process, they've been in contact with us. For a smaller garage, one company wanted 30,000 dollars more."

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Carver, MN

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
