Hello, my name is James. I perform many handyman/repair services. I won’t charge near as much as large commercial businesses, and promise to be transparent and honest with my work. "Our A/C failed during a very hot spell in June 2018 in St. Louis. Many service providers we called would not come. We called Vitt and told Jeff, the scheduler, about our problem: we had an old furnace (>50 years old) and had the blower motor rebuilt recently by Commercial Electric. Jeff gave us his cell phone number should we decide to go with Vitt. When I had the blower motor fixed, it was in the trunk of my car. I called Jeff and he sent Vic out that day. Vic and Dave came and removed the blower motor from the car and carried it into the basement. The J box was missing from the motor, and the wires leading to it had been cut too short. Vic spoke to Commercial Electric to confirm the correct approach to fixing the wiring. He drilled a new hole to compensate for the shortened wires and moved the capacitor to protect it from touching the filters in the furnace. He checked the relay box and made sure that the furnace breaker was working. After the A/C was successfully turned on, Vic and Dave checked the condenser for heat and then hosed it off. Both men were polite and listened to my information on the history of the furnace and its problems. They asked me appropriate questions about previous service companies. They were patient about my concerns and knowledgeable regarding older furnaces. The bill was reasonable for service provided by 2 men."

"The workers arrived - 2 trucks and 2 teams arrived early and immediately began working - inside and outside, cleaning the duct from both ends. They cleaned up the work areas and departed for the next appointment. They were very proficient, professional. dressed in uniforms, friendly and polite. "Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. "We are very happy with the work Good Neighbors did remodeling our small decades-old kitchen. As part of the remodel we had them install double pocket doors in a supporting wall between the kitchen and an adjoining bedroom. We also had them incorporate most of a hall closet into the kitchen space. With these two changes they were able to comfortably add an island and more than double our counter space.  All the work except plumbing and electrical was done by the very competent and trustworthy crew of Chris and Caleb, who answered all of our questions and gave very helpful advice and generally kept the workspace clean. The quality of work is good to excellent. Tom, one of the owners, came up with a wonderful layout for the wall tile.
    The sub-contractor doing the small amount of plumbing was very good. The electrical work included replacing the main panel, running all new electric lines, and installing both "can" lights and pendant lights. This subcontractor did excellent work and correctly diagnosed a line problem on Ameren's end that had plagued us with dimming lights for years when we ran appliances--this was fixed for free after they called. Unfortunately the electricians worked evenings and weekends with almost no advance notice; we were told by Good Neighbors that this was not their usual contractor. Regardless, everything turned out great and all inspections were passed with no problems. 
    How the project progressed: After a quick initial visit from Steve (the other owner), he brought in Joanne Conley from Henry Plumbing (also listed on Angie's list) who did the actual kitchen design and helped us select all the materials and cabinets. Her attention to detail was amazing, and she immediately noted one hidden problem (easily solved) that neither Steve nor us had noticed. We definitely give her an "A". Joanne then referred us to the appliance company. She contracted the countertop installer. After that Tom, Chris, and Caleb took over, with us making sure to "touch base" every day or two.
    The project was completed within budget and ran about two weeks over the projected six weeks. Besides a couple snow days, most of the delay was due to us deciding to change the location of the island and its overhead pendant lights well into the remodel (and after the ceiling had been painted). The fact that Good Neighbors would do this for us so late in the game without any resistance speaks very highly of their desire to please their customers."
