"Albert was extremely responsive in coming out for an estimate and follow-up, and then called a few days in advance to let us know the date they would begin the work.  He described every element in his quotation in detail.  Albert uses "Mad Dog" primer (www.maddogprimer.com) and admits that it is expensive.  However, he believes it at least doubles the life of the paint and he provides a 5-year warranty and free pressure washing yearly for five years to prove that the paint job will hold up well as a result of using the expensive primer.
We were a bit disappointed in the professionalism of the work crew.  They arrived on time but did not seem to have a grasp of the job scope and were very sloppy in beginning the pressure washing.  They sprayed water all over the screened porch (which was supposed to be wiped down by hand and not pressure washed) and got pressure washing solution all over our porch furniture.  A phone call to Albert got the mess cleaned up and the work crew properly "calibrated."  They were extremely courteous guys, though.
They did a nice job on the primer and painting, and also on the fence which we had them stain with Home Depot's Behr deck stain.  They were sloppy on some parts of the job, and in a few instances splashed paint all over the screens on the screened porch.  The screens were too spattered to clean, and so the job foreman said he would replace them instead.  It took him three tries to satisfactorily repair the two damaged screens.
They went out of their way to match the paint color on some of the window, door, and siding flashing so that it would blend nicely with our brick.  This was over and above the scope of the job and speaks to Albert's desire to do whatever is necessary to make the customer happy.
Lastly, the crew was totally unprepared for the post-job window cleaning that Albert promised.  We had to call twice to remind them to come back for the window cleaning, and when they finally came back they didn't have any supplies.  We had to give them towels and they used water, not window cleaner!  Then we had to call them back AGAIN when they took our towels with them.  They did a pretty poor job on the windows, and we had to go over their work and re-wash all of the windows ourselves.
Overall, despite the problems listed above, Albert is certainly worth consideration as we found his overall pricing to be very competitive and they did do a good job.  We would caution anyone who decides to use Albert's Painting to just make sure you closely follow their work and tell them exactly what you want and expect - repeatedly.  Albert is always a phone call away and it is a good idea to make sure the crew knows that you aren't afraid to call Albert if you aren't happy.  Despite the problems mentioned, the crew was very friendly and really wanted to do a good job.  Every item that we pointed out for rework or touch-up was done without argument and with a smile.  For these reasons, we would not hesitate to call on Albert again in the future.

"Doug did a little bit of everything in the concrete and mason services for us.  He poured, repaired and built new.  Everything was done with high professionalism and quality.  The biggest project was our patio steps which were dangerous and out dated.  He cut out a new line in the raised patio and built new brick steps to better fit the flow of the back yard.  The new steps look great and are much safer.  He had to remove a lot of concrete and dirt and then rebuild so this was a big project.  His team works hard and are very professional.  I would use Doug again!

"Originally, we were scheduled to have our roof inspected on January 10, but due to an ice storm it was not actually inspected until January 24. The owner came out finding that the roof was in pretty good shape. However, some of the roof caps on the various ridge lines needed to be replaced. He also found that the sealant around the pipes coming through the roof had cracked and could be letting in water from either rain or snow. The Technician came out the next day and repaired everything. He also cleaned out the gutters which were long overdue to be cleaned."

"Russ and his son did an excellent job from start to finish. Russ provided an initial quote and from there, we discussed materials and scope of operations. Most particularly, Russ was extremely careful removing trim carpentry so to avoid having to duplicate stain and color. He didn't splinter or break or damage anything. He covered my surrounding floor to prevent damage from foot traffic. He moved the refrigerator, stove, and toilet providing the proper floor protection while the appliances were out of place. We made sure we understood each other's intentions and got no surprises as to the type of mortar, grout width, and center lines. His cuts were as precise as humanly possible. He treated the job as if it was for his own house. The job site was kept clean during the four day project and inconvenience was kept to an absolute minimum. Their work is beautiful and we definitely recommend him and his son as professional and true craftsmen."

"I did not know how long it would take him to repair the shed floor, but he did it quickly, satisfactorily and was willing to continue the day with other work that I had not previously told him about.  He finished the arduous back breaking work of filling depressions in the yard with heavy wet composting ash

I will NOT ask him to do any future landscaping type of work.

I look forward to his service on an as-needed basis for various home rennovation and repair jobs.

"I had noticed water damage to areas of the house. One, on a front window, has been a problem for a long time. I have used this company before and thought highly of their work. Darryl arrived on time for consultation. On the walk around, he pointed out other damaged areas to me and areas that the company would fix as a part of the 5-year maintenance guarantee from their work 2.5 years ago. He suggested using vinyl in areas under eaves and over garage and Hardy plank for the masonite replacement. We arranged for work to begin next day (Saturday). John and 1 other worker arrived and started working. John noticed another area that I agreed needed work. They worked vigorously and did an excellent job. Where they were not able to match existing paint exactly, they painted out so that it is almost unnoticeable. Workers did a good job on cleaning up when work was completed."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: repair or partially replace projects in Catawba, SC

Stone veneer isn’t a weekend DIY. Even lightweight faux panels are heavy and must be anchored, flashed, and sealed to keep water out. Missteps can lead to cracked stone, leaks, or injuries. A licensed siding contractor arrives with scaffolding, masonry tools, and the know-how to set each piece safely and neatly, giving you a long-lasting, professional finish.

Stone veneer durability is robust when expert installation and proper maintenance are employed. When installed with precision, regularly cleaned, and sealed as required, stone veneer maintains its integrity for 25 to 75 years. Inadequate installation, however, leads to water intrusion and structural issues that compromise its longevity. Consistent upkeep and adherence to quality installation standards ensure decades of reliable performance.

Covering the entire exterior of a home with stone veneer is feasible but comes with a significant cost increase. Full coverage escalates both material and labor expenses due to the additional square footage required. Many homeowners reduce costs by applying stone veneer selectively—such as around entries, foundations, or architectural accents—while still achieving an upscale appearance and enhancing overall curb appeal.

Installing stone veneer over brick or stucco is entirely possible when the underlying surface is stable and properly prepared. The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of any loose material to support a secure application. Additionally, any areas of flaking stucco or deteriorated mortar must be patched and allowed to cure fully before a professional applies the new veneer, ensuring lasting durability.

Stone veneer siding offers a substantial cost advantage compared to full-thickness natural stone. It costs 25% of the price of natural stone because it is manufactured from concrete and lightweight aggregates. This method delivers the genuine appearance of stone while featuring a thinner profile that simplifies shipping, accelerates installation, and consistently reduces material expenses.

For a 250 square foot exterior area, stone siding installation costs range from $9,800 to $18,000, while installing stone veneer costs between $5,000 and $6,000. This clear cost breakdown demonstrates the significant savings achieved with stone veneer, which uses a lighter construction method that minimizes both material and labor expenses. Homeowners benefit from these lower costs while still attaining the attractive look of natural stone.
