"Robby and his crew were amazing. We are remodeling a 1930's bungalow and it needed a complete new HVAC system, ductwork and all. I talked with at least 5 HVAC companies and found Robby to be the most honest and helpful of all of them. I couldn't be more pleased and would not hesitate to recommend R Wiley to anyone that needs service or replacement."

"The service was expeditious, which I appreciated. They offered pictures of my system and communicated what they were doing. They did, however leave a mess behind. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but today cleaning it up was pretty annoying - especially with 2 sick kiddos. I would hire again, but just make sure they vacuum before they go."

"Fil was great!  When I first called him, he was working on a job out of town.  The plumber taped plastic over the hole and I was anxious to get the tile repaired.  Fil told me to call him back if I could not find anyone to do the repair and he would come by once he was back in town.  He said most companies do not do small repair jobs and he was right!  I called several other companies on Angie's list that had received outstanding ratings and they never returned my call or they said the did not do small repair jobs.  I was surprised by that.  So I called Fil and he did the job as soon as he got back into town.  He was on time, courteous, professional and did a fantastic job.  He said it was important to him to do even the small jobs because they are important to the people who need the work done.  That speaks volume about his character as well as his company.  I really appreciate everything he did.  I will definitely call him again for tile work and will refer others to him as well.  Thanks, Fil!

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Chestnut-mountain, GA

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
