"Jeff and his team did an outstanding job repairing/repainting kitchen cabinets with extensive water damage. They were a pleasure to work with and my cabinets look better than ever. I highly recommend this company."

"After reading reviews on Angie's List, this was the first vendor I contacted (mainly due to reviews and location).  After trading emails with pictures of furniture I wanted repaired, I didn't see a need to contact a second vendor. He's a second generation owner of this business, having bought the business from his father. <br /> I was impressed with the entire experience.  When he first arrived we reviewed the work I wanted done.  I expected very good work, and he did that.  Above that, there were two specific things he did that really impressed me: 1. When he found there wasn't an existing opening to insert new padding he took the time to explain how & where he planned to make a cut, and how he'd sew it back together when completed.  2.  There was one area that he couldn't quote from the picture--re-attaching fabric on the back of the chair.  Although this allowed him an opportunity to generate more income, he found an easy fix that took only a few minutes, without additional cost to me. <br /> Good guy, good work, good value. <br />"

"Our dark kitchen was in much need of remodeling. We knew we wanted to keep our kitchen cabinets, but we wanted to lighten and update the look of the kitchen. We engaged Marvin at Refinishing Wonders to perform this work. We had to schedule him several months in advance, given his busy workload, but he was definitely worth the wait. He was always responsive to our questions prior to starting work, and he was more than willing to help us determine how we wanted to proceed. For example, he offered to paint a door in our selected color for us to take when matching tile colors. He also had great ideas about how to improve the look of the kitchen, adding panels to various flat surfaces and building a cabinet around our refrigerator. After the carpentry work, he spray painted our cabinets, giving the kitchen a whole new look. His craftsmanship is outstanding, and he is very meticulous in his work. He unfailingly did just what he said he’d do, finishing the job right on schedule after many long days of work. He also left the house neat and clean each day. His prices were reasonable, and on top of all else, he’s probably the nicest and most honorable person we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Marvin makes you feel like the most important thing to him is satisfying the customer, and it’s genuine. We couldn’t be more pleased. I hope we’ll have other opportunities to work with him in the future."

"Angelo Tatsis gave me an approximate cost to re-cane my rocker and confirmed that price when he picked it up. He said it would take about a month, but he returned it earlier than that. In addition to caning the seat, he firmly attached the legs to the rocker arms and polished the chair."

"Palmer's refinished a 6ft x 3ft mahogany mirror that has been in my family for 70 years, and facilitated the replacement of the glass. The job went very well and I'm really happy with the result. They picked up and dropped off, stayed within the quote, kept me posted along the way, and only required four days to do it. I absolutely recommend Palmer's and would use them again, maybe for an antique cedar chest my family has had over 90 years. I would trust them with it."

"Doug Smith at Cobourn and Sons is a great furniture refinisher. We have used them for about 15 years. They were referred to us by movers when we had a leg break on a hi-boy and they did a marvelous job fixing it. We have been loyal customers for a long time. I like the quality of their workmanship. They take forever, but it is worth the wait. I like their perfection. They pick up and deliver the furniture. I would give them an A+. Their prices are fair. The furniture is always done when they say it will be. It is a small family business and they are great. What I really like about them is they will look at a piece and say it is not worth the cost for them to refinish it. They are willing to turn away work if it is not worth their cost. They are really honest."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Clover, SC

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
