"My 30+ year air handling system failed. Mr. Holmes knew that this part of my system was probably done with. He tried a couple of parts that did not work. He had to leave for another appointment, but took a photo and did some research. His suppliers told him that this handler did not exist any more. However, one supplier found one on a shelf, and could ship it, but would not guarantee performance since it was so old. Mr. Holmes gave me an option of getting and installing the air handler or replace whole new system (new compressor unit and updated air handling unit) with a 10 year guarantee. I mulled it over and called him back and opted for the whole new system. Bart came back out, evaluated what I needed and gave me a quote. Bart was able to obtain the system on Saturday morning and a crew and the whole system was installed and running by 3:30 PM on Saturday. I highly recommend this company, because Mr. Holmes is very honest and educational. Another positive experience with Angie's list."

"Arrived at 9:30 am. Installation went smoothly. They took away the old system. Very happy with the new Carrier system. They showed me how to program the digital thermostat. I was without AC for a week because my old AC's condenser coil had a leak in the aluminum part. My condenser was mismatched with my air handler/evaporator so the whole system needed to be replaced. These guys did a great job and cleaned up the work debris after."

"We were happy with all aspects of dealing with this company. Both the people in the office and techs they sent out had great customer service skills, explained everything and accomplished everything they said they would in the time they promised. There was a small accident while taking the duct cleaner in and out of our house, a tile on our front step got chipped. The techs showed it to me and the put me in immediate contact with office to resolve the issue. They promptly got a licensed contractor out to replace the tile and took care of everything. I would use them again or recommend to anyone, fair prices, professional employees and good customer service.  <br />"

"I have never used this company in the past and was very surprised with the on time commitment of the appointments and communications. Everything I was told actually happened as promised. The repairman was very knowledgeable and professional. He reviewed his findings in detail and explained my options. I researched the cost of the evaporator and found the quoted price very competitive. <br />"

"After our contractor abandoned our kitchen project, Direct Cooling was called because we've used them in the past. After speaking with the owner, Mr. Frank, who recently installed our new A.C. unit, duct work, and re-routing of our drain and coolant lines to eliminate a wall. DC's team came in and re-installed our rangetop exhaust hood and modified the new hood to exhaust outside. How did it go? Perfect!"

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Coconut Creek, FL

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
