Johnny K’s is a small owner operated company opened shortly after moving to Myrtle Beach in 2005. I personally do all the work which helps to keep a level of quality not commonly found. I have comparable pricing to the big-box stores with the personal care of a small company. If you call Johnny K’s you get Johnny K not automated push button answering service. I like to take things a little more personal, people first not things. Sub-contractors are only used when license is required ie Plumbers/Electricians. I do have a $65. service fee for small repairs. This is allowing for bogus reviews, good and bad, to be posted and seen by potential customers. Due to a recent attack, I have found that of these, Home Advisor was the only website that actually verified the review before posting to a profile. Porch and the Yellow Pages allowed for a profile to be created by a bogus reviewer. Because of this happening to my business, I refuse to post anything to these other sites and will only be using Home Advisor in the future. Thanks, JK

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Conway, SC

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
