"Ryan and his crew showed up on time each day and completed the job on schedule surpassing expectations. We were extremely impressed with his craftsmanship and appreciative of his apprenticeship of other local young men learning the carpentry trade. We would hire him again!"

Customers say: True professional

"Art is fantastic and his work is top-notch. He took an unfinished basement and moved walls, framed walls, install drywall, installed a bathroom, installed a ceiling system, and much more. It was amazing to watch him work with the structural engineer, the county inspectors, plumbers, and the electrician thinking, four and five steps ahead to make sure those areas were built to the specifications of those subs. He was on time every day and left the job site immaculate. We loved his transparency by being able to see the actual material bills and like the way that he settles up the account so that we know exactly where we stood. He would let us know about what he was planning on doing for the next two weeks the approximate time and the approximate costs so that we could prepare or modify. Another great thing: Art is the one that actually does the work. It?s not someone that comes in and specs a job and then someone else actually does the labor. You know you?re getting the best everyday."

"We had a good experience with our handyman, Jay! He installed some closet shelves in our primary bedroom and installed a shelf in our laundry room, and both projects turned out pretty good! He was professional, punctual, knowledgeable, and paid close attention to every detail. His workmanship was really good, and he made sure everything was sturdy, level, and finished with care. He also cleaned up after the job was completed, which we greatly appreciated. It’s refreshing to find a reliable, dependable and skillful handyman. We are pleased with the results and will definitely call him again for future projects. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality craftsmanship and good service!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Josh and his crew completed our covered patio a few months ago and we couldn’t be happier! The quality of craftsmanship is second to none. Everything was on time and communication was great throughout the project. Everyone took great care of our property during the construction phase. Trash and debris was always picked up and materials were stacked out of the way at the end of every day. If you have a renovation to do, I cannot recommend Integrity Building and Renovations enough! We love our new space!"

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Cornelius, NC

Professional contractors complete basement framing in three to five days, depending on the size and complexity of your space. Projects with simple, open layouts progress faster than those with multiple rooms and corners. DIY framers should expect the job to take significantly longer, potentially seven to 10 days or more, depending on experience level and available time. The timeline doesn't include other aspects of basement finishing like drywall installation, electrical work, or finishing touches, which extend the overall renovation schedule.

Most municipalities require building permits for basement framing projects. These permits cost between $1,200 and $2,000, ensuring your renovation meets local building codes for safety and structural integrity. Working without proper permits can result in penalties, forced removal of completed work, and complications when selling your home. Your local building department can provide specific information about permit requirements, inspection schedules, and any special considerations for basement renovations in your area.

For basement framing, use pressure-treated lumber for bottom plates (the horizontal boards that contact concrete floors) to prevent moisture damage and rot. Standard kiln-dried lumber is suitable for wall studs and top plates that don't directly contact concrete surfaces. The most common lumber dimension for basement wall framing is two-by-four, though some situations may call for two-by-six lumber to accommodate thicker insulation. Always check local building codes, as some jurisdictions have specific requirements for basement framing materials.

You can install drywall after framing is complete and inspected, but several important steps should happen first. Ensure any electrical, plumbing, or HVAC rough-ins are completed and inspected before closing up walls. Installing insulation between studs is highly recommended for temperature control and moisture management. Drywall installation adds an average of $3 to $4 per linear foot to your project, with painting costing an additional $2 to $6 per square foot. Address any moisture concerns before enclosing walls to prevent future damage and mold issues.
