"I recently had two new American Standard heat pumps and air handlers installed. The techs were highly professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. They took the time to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. I had hung a hook rack on the opposite wall from one of the air handlers and I thought I went into a stud but the screw actually went into the back of the metal heating cabinet. When the tech pulled it out to replace it he pulled some of the drywall out on the side I had installed the rack. It was my fault but he felt bad about it and his supervisor insisted that he repair it for me. I told him I would take care of it but he almost pleaded with me to let him fix the drywall. He came back the next morning and repaired everything as if it never happened, paint included. This is the best A/C and heating company I have ever dealt with and I've had several over the years. I would not call anyone else for my A/C and Heating requirements. I HIGHLY recommend them."

"Jim is local.  It went great. Jim Ferrell is a professional of the highest caliber. Responded quickly, took care of my problems, and advised me as to better means of protection than I had. He came back a second time to uninstall software that I purchased that did not provide adequate protections and installed free software that would do the job.  He did the work through remote connection, but is available on site if necessary.
For those people needing help on getting red of malware, viruses , etc. on your computer,  Jim is local, better than all thse remote out of state location providers, is a mature, highly trained professional in this area.
If you go to local computer stores you get very young people that can do a basic job, but are no where near the professional level of Jim.
I highly recommend Jim to anyone that needs these type services.

"One Call Roofing was great. On the initial estimate, they were a little higher than the other two estimates but the other two  estimates did not include installing the ridge vent. The other two companies were going to replace the turbines (both worked fine). There was no pressure to accept their estimate and no "fancy" talk. Phillip explained what would be done and how it would be done.
The crew was on time and completed the roofing in one day (it was almost dark when they finished). They worked solid all day except for a brief break for lunch and a brief rain shower for which they put tarps on the roof until the rain stopped. Very good crew!
They returned the next morning to clean up and run the magnet over the front/back yard to pick stray nails. They did a very good job of cleaning the area - I've found a few pieces of small pieces of shingles in the grass but I would expect that with any company.
One thing I really liked was the installation of a waterproof membrane under the roof valley and around the heat vents.
One more important fact:  I received a $500 discount for being a member of Angie's List. This was applied AFTER they gave me the estimate.

"We had originally scheduled this service for the weekend in which Northern Virginia experienced the severe windstorm  known as "dorecho". Due to serious wind damage and blocked roadway, the appointment had to be canceled and re-booked. This was no problem for us and we planned to reschedule a few weeks later. As it turned out, we couldn't agree on a date until over a month later. Still not a problem for us. We scheduled a late afternoon appointment because only workdays were available and both my wife and I work away from home. Upon returning home to meet the service person, we found a business card in the door stating that we had missed the appointment (he came early) and to call to reschedule. My wife called immediately and reached the dispatcher who was able to contact the service person and have him return that day to perform the service. Upon arrival the technician performed a thorough cleaning and inspection of our chimney, fireplace and a woodstove  located in the basement. He delivered good news - all equipment was in good shape and unknown to us, our chimney had been upgraded by the previous owner with stainless steel liners. This would save us thousands of dollars because we want to install modern wood burning appliances requiring this upgrade! We were handed a thorough inspection report which can be used by the installers to prove that no further work is needed when the appliances are installed. All told, it was a very good service and the technician went the extra mile to answer all of our questions.

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."
