"The installers of my front steps and railings did an excellent, excellent job. They worked with precision to make sure their installations were correct and measurements were accurate. They did an excellent job cleaning up once they were finished. I plan to use them again in the future."

"Initial phone contact good, pleasant conversation with owner who requested photos and then came (although an hour late) to scheduled appointment.
After sending in deposit for work, had to wait longer than the expected (promised) time for work to be started and completed which was need by deadline set by my home owner insurance company
Had to call owner and remind him  close to deadline at which time he promised to get work finished soon but gave no definite date.
Finally  called and came to do work and assured me that he could complete on his own without my being present.
Returned to find job finished but not well done.   Side  hand rail severely bowed,  porch rails not carefully installed - misaligned with porch concrete runners.  Since I was under severe time pressure from insurance company did not challenge but unsatisfied with the work done.
overall impression:  small 1-2 man operation which rushes to jobs as they come in ;    fair-poor  overall workmanship
would go with an established more professional firm next time

"Install went smoothly and very quickly. He was a upfront about possible issues and how they would mitigate them. Since it was a small job, he cut us a deal sourcing pavers leftover from a previous job."

"mail. We originally contacted the contractor near the end of April since my wife and I wanted to get some stumps removed from our back yard and to replace the fence. We were also wondering if we needed to get the large spruce tree at the front of the house cut down since it was leaning and shedding alot of needles. Ben came out and gave us an estimate for removing the tree, grinding and removing the stumps in the yard, taking down the fence, and grading the sloping back yard, which is what we also wanted.
The quote we received was complete, and stated that it was good for 60 days. Well, work ramped up, and we weren't able to get fence quotes as well as a boundary survey completed until mid to late June after we came back from vacation. At that point, we had decided to leave the tree alone, since we were told it was healthy and not a danger. We also found a fence company we were comfortable working with.
Two days after the 60 days was up, I both telephoned and emailed the company with a revison of the original quote (minus the tree removal)  and said that I hoped that that quote was still good, and that we would like to get the work done within two weeks to coordinate with the fence contractor.
I didn't get any response, so I again left a voice mail.
I understand that it is a small family-owned business, but I would hope that someone would check both email and voice messages at least once a day.  Email is great, but it still doesn't beat the personal touch of a real person's voice on the phone.
I'd still like to hire them, and I know that I let time pass before deciding to hire them, but I would appreciate some contact, please.

"Manny was great and was a reliable contractor working on a large fence restoration. He was timely to arrive each morning and painted my fence quickly and better than my neighbors and at a lower price. He paid attention to detail and was an honest contractor. When he had problems, he communicated it to me quickly and gave me ample time to try and find a resolution. Would use again."

"Fred worked quickly. He finished the entry gate and replaced part of the fence that was missing. His work was excellent. He did a much better job than the original company which installed the fence. Then he started attaching the wire fence to one side of the fence. Initially he was'nt sure if he'd be able to attach the wire to the entire fence and I did not expect him to because he had done so much already. Fred had to move some tree branches out of his way in some areas but he manged to attach the wire fence to the entire wood fence. He did a wonderful job and he his work exceeded my expectations. I would use this company again and I'm going to tell my friends and family about them.

FAQs for barbed wire fence installation projects in Crofton, MD

Barbed wire is a type of fencing made from steel wire with sharp edges or points spaced along the strands. It's designed to prevent unauthorized entry or contain livestock by acting as a physical deterrent. Barbed wire fences are often seen in agricultural settings or high-security areas because they're effective, durable, and require little maintenance.

You can expect to pay between $3 and $6 per linear foot for a barbed wire fence, including installation. The exact price depends on factors like material quality, number of strands, wire thickness, and labor costs. If you have a larger project, bulk purchasing and hiring a professional might offer cost savings.

The number of strands you need depends on the fence's purpose and the level of security you want. For a standard livestock fence, you might use three to five strands. For higher-security needs, you may require more strands to meet your needs. Consider your specific requirements and talk to your fence installation pro to determine the appropriate number.

Barbed wire fencing regulations vary by location. In many residential areas, the use of barbed wire is restricted or prohibited due to safety concerns. Before installing a barbed wire fence, work with your barbed wire fence installation pro to check local zoning laws and homeowner association rules to ensure compliance with regulations.

The lifespan of a barbed wire fence depends on the quality of materials and environmental conditions. Fences made with high-quality, galvanized wire and proper coatings can last between 20 and 30 years. Regular maintenance and inspections can extend the fence's longevity by addressing issues like rust or damaged strands promptly.
