"Very well. Mario and his staff were on time every day. The work was thorough and professional. He explained all the details in understandable terms and carried them out exactly. He took special care with details such as the curve of the sidewalk and the color of the bricks for the chimney - all at no extra cost. Also, at no extra cost, he trimmed a tree to get access to the chimney. Later an aborist stated that he ad done a very neat job on the tree as well  - again, all at no extra cost. <br /> Highly recommended!"

"Similar to "mike" the prospective home owner below i too had an inspection and when i could afford to have it cleaned i was told that the previous quote (4 months old by this time) would only be honored if i had a level 2 inspection. I too was told that my furnace wasn't sealed and that i would need to replace the flue. However, I always get three or four different bids and estimates. First, the repair cost for the cap and chimney was astronomical compared to the other companies. I hired Bill Miles masonry to repair my chimney at a significant reduced rate. So i didnt hire them to complete the work on the inspection. Second, The flue and basement exhaust. Was told the lining was going the wrong way, needed a new flue, and seal the exhaust from hot water heater. Again, had two companies come and look at the same project. Both looked at the flue and exhaust and said that for the amount of money chimney doctors were gonna charge me was scamming. 1,700 with a mandatory inspection again from chimney doctors. I went with another HVAC company who is highly rated, they came out, sealed up the pipe and tightened some screws and ensured me that this was all that was necessary. He even pulled the pipe out to show me how new the flue inside was! Chimney doctors was trying to charge me to replace a brand new flue and was going to setup my exhaust wrong. I feel like i almost got scammed by this company. The work the Hvac company did cost me 175$ as opposed to the false estimate from chimney doctors. tl;dr Chimney doctors estimated me thousands over what high rated legitimate companies estimated. Felt like i was being conned after i had two other highly rated angies list professionals look at the same job and was told that chimney doctors estimates and "problems" were blown out of proportion and that i was potentially being taken advantage of. "Tony is the most skilled, competent, and knowledgeable builder we've worked with. He is also generous, glad to share his expertise, and a genuinely warm person with a great sense of humor. His work is exacting, logical and precise. While he renovated the master bathroom he found time to add an outdoor faucet and electric outlet, a dryer exhaust and discovered features of our new old house we didn't know (e.g. an outdoor faucet hidden under the deck). He was great at explaining both why some work was needed and other potential jobs were unnecessary. From helping with planning, materials, appliances and their sources to providing a detailed cost breakdown in the estimate through the final bill, Tony was clear, careful and utterly professional."

"I recently hired Sal to insulate my garage attic. Sal and his workers first had to make a new larger hatch for access to the attic. A walk was installed in the attic for future access to electrical wiring. Rolled insulation was installed, as was proper vents in all the eves. The work was completed in a timely fashion. During the recent heat wave, I could already tell that the garage feels cooler! Sal promptly returned phone calls and texts. He took the time to explain in detail the work that was needed. Sal and the workers were very courteous and kept me informed of their progress. My garage was left cleaner than it had been. Much appreciated! I would definitely hire Sal again."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Delmar, NY

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
