"Jeffrey completed our work on 8/2/21 in a very professional manner and kept us updated during the entire project. We had to have new drainage installed to take the water away from the house and had to have our driveway lifted and cracks filled. He cleaned up the area and even later the grass back where he had to dig trenches in our front yard."

"Water buildup in our side yard after heavy rain has been bothering my wife and I for years, sometimes leaking into the (thankfully) unfinished part of our basement. We should have called Atlas sooner. I did so because is rating here on Angie's. Ed came out, measured our very slight slope (1 inch! which is why there was buildup in the first place) and gave an estimate that seemed reasonable to me. When weather and work schedule were right (about 3 or so weeks after the bid), came out and did the job. He and his coworker were friendly and professional. He explained the various issues and how he resolved them (3 catchment basins draining to street). Work area was neat throughout the two days he was here; he avoided my wife's flowers (thank you!!) at the end he finished out everything, planted grass seed and covered it all with straw. I waited for a big rain before I wrote this review. There was no water buildup at all. It rained heavily again, and the same. I am 100% satisfied. Fair price, good work, the result we sought. (In the photo you'll see our watering hose--not part of the job.)"

"Tischbein used a video scope to check all drains. This included the drains for the downspouts, external floor drain and also checked the weeping tile at the base of the foundation. They were quite thorough, took time to explain their findings and identified potential solution to the backyard water problem. We are very pleased with their service, attention to detail and willingness to answer all of our questions. We would recommend the company."

"We were impressed with the services we received. We had what we thought was "erupting" concrete in the garage of our home, around a support pole. Tracy Mitchell came out within the week. He fully assessed our situation, took pictures and submitted a detailed written report. Our situation was that the rest of the garage floor had settled some (30 yr old home) and around the pole it stayed at the original elevation, making it seem higher than the rest of the floor. Tracy Mitchell then proceeded to inspect our basement and the external walls of the home, concluding that it was solid and in very good structural condition, with no settling of the structure. Some cracks in foundation wall that leak a little are not structurally concerning and he suggested how they could be addressed."

"From start to finish, the project went smoothly. I did have some wood that need to be replaced but this was not unexpected. 10-12 people showed up and finished in one day. They cleaned everything up. We only found a few nails. They took off Ray St. Clair installed Gutter Helmets and put them back on. This was basically free. Ray St. Clair wanted $1800 for this service (which is ridiculous). In the end, most of the gutter helmets worked but the front of the house. Ray St. Clair did have to come out to replace these at a cost of $500 (which is way less then $1800). They took photos of everything along the way. I did have other estimates that were a bit lower and Ray St. Clair was a lot higher."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Dillsboro, IN

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
