However, the color of the mortar used differed from that in the rest of the brickwork, so at present it stands out. Sixpenny said to wait a period and then re-evaluate whether any change should be made. I would rate this as an "A" but for the color difference in the mortar that was not expected. The chimney cap work was done well."

"In a word, excellent. The crew came on time (twice because of a significant rain storm!). They did fantastic work. Very friendly. When they had to leave for the day (rain storm) they put plastic over all of their work to ensure not water damage or leakage). Very importantly to my wife they protected her plants and shrubs which was very hard to do given where the chimney was. Outstanding crew. If I knew how, I would ask for those same guys again for my next chimney repair. BTW- the front office realized that the chimney cap was under warranty and they refunded a significant portion of the cost. That kind of honesty is hard to find."

"Prouty did a great job on the chimney liners and ultimately the chimney cap repair. I rated them a C on responsiveness and professionalism specifically for an issue related to finishing the chimney cap in April when the weather conditions allowed for the repair. We financed the project over a six month period. I had requested that they provide pictures of the finished work including the chimney cap. Other companies we have used in the past provide before and after pictures. However, we were told that because they had already completed the chimney cap repair, they would not return to take pictures. It wasn't until we withheld the final payment that they agreed to return and provide pictures; only to find out that the work had not been completed. They were apologetic about the error in the paperwork, but I can't help thinking if we had not withheld the final payment, we would have been unaware that the repair had not been completed. I believe I would hire them again, but would have to make sure to verify the completed work."

"Victor encountered an unanticipated problem - the workmen who built the fence used concrete footings, but did not protect the wood near the base, which rotted. His attempts to put in parallel posts were precluded by the existing concrete footings, so we opted to wait until the fence falls and needs replacement. He did not charge us because he could not complete the job. We appreciated his effort and honesty."

"I have revised my initial review after a long discussion with the owner of Rooftop.  He took considerable time to explain the situation and offered some suggestions to alleviate the problem.  He also explained the restrictions, requirements and costs of performing outside work in Old Town Alexandria.  On top of that, he refunded 50% of the Service Call Charge; although I told him it was not necessary.    Should I require services again, I would use Rooftop Chimney Sweeps in the future."
