"<p>We read about this company on Angie's list and decided to give them a try.  Gave them a call and Marcel came out in just a few days for an inspection and estimate.</p> <p>Based on everything Marcel said, we decided to go ahead and have them do the work.</p> <p>I'd been seeing occasional rat poop around the small entrance to our attic, whenever the door was disturbed, so I knew something was going on.  They got up there and there was LOTS of rat poop, but luckily for us, no rats currently in residence!</p> <p>Marcel explained their process and what else he'd seen up there, including a vent pipe from our kitchen stove that hadn't been properly connected to the outside.</p> <p>In addition to removing all of the old insulation (essentially with a giant vacuum cleaner!), they sanitized the area, patched or repaired any access points, fixed the unconnected kitchen vent, added some additional soffit vents, rescreened any other vents and then blew in high quality insulation.</p> <p>So now, on top of feeling secure in having a rat free and clean attic, we should be seeing a reduction in our heating bills as well, from the better quality insulation they put in.  NICE!</p> <p>I want to commend Marcel, in particular.  He was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to and understand.  And because we've done a lot of work on our house lately, with a few unfortunate situations, we really peppered him with questions and he was very, very patient with us, which we really appreciated.</p> <p>The guys who did the actual work--boy, they worked hard!  They did it all in one full day.  Only took a week or two to get the appointment, too.  </p> <p>And they literally built a tunnel of plastic sheeting from our front door to the attic entrance, so there was no worry about dirt or dust or any of the soiled insulation getting in the rest of the house. </p> <p>All in all definitely one of our best experiences with hiring for work on our house.  </p> <br />"

"They were incredibly responsive during a very hard time. In the space of 4 days our home flooded (during a week when there were lots of homes flooding -- they had a foreman on site to take a look within 24 hours, when a competitor wouldn't have been able to even look at the problem for a month). In addition to our home flooding, our son was in a terrible accident and was in ICU for several days, and the hospital for 5+ weeks (he's still there as I write this). Some folks from our church called Justin at Western and asked if they could provide the labor and they could install the sump system to take care of the immediate flooding project. My wife and I weren't even there and between our awesome Church family and western they dug the trenches and installed a sump system to take care of the flooding issue. Western was super busy with the unprecedented flooding, but they worked with us. The second part of the project in preparing the foundation in a stairway to the basement hasn't been completed yet, but is scheduled, and I'm confident they'll do a great job with that too. I'll repost more info if I feel it is needed."

"I had renters in house in front of me who threw garbage off their deck, had large dogs...never cleaned up messes, garbage and junk littered the yard, etc.  <br /> I started having rat problems and when the pest control rep. came out and went under the house and attic, he said I  needed to have both areas cleaned out because of all the rodent feces, etc. there. I had one estimate done but wanted another one so I <br /> checked Angie's list for companys that cleaned out crawl spaces and attics.  I read all the ratings and comments of people having hired these companies and chose Miguel's company, STANDARD INSULATION AND REMOVAL , INC. because of the comments made by people who had hired him. <br /> I called him right away and he came out early the next morning and gave me 2 estimates...one for the crawl space and one for the attic as I requested.  (I showed him  the first estimate and asked for an estimate for the same work)  I blanked out the name of the first company.  He gave me the estimates and explained that he used products that were as good or better and explained the procedure for removal and installation.  He answered any and all questions I had...I tend to ask lots of questions.  (His estimate was about $2000 cheaper than the first estimate) <br /> Miguel and his co-worker were out every morniing by 8am and worked all day until about 5pm.  They worked  long and hard in miserable cold, wet weather.  <br /> I can't say enough about the work ethic and professionalism of Miguel and will recommend his company to anyone who asks for a recommendation.  <br /> My house was built in 1979 so the insulation rating was only R-15.  The drastic increase in the insulation should make a big difference this summer...if and when it gets hot... and of course the heat bill should show some difference too."
